so like……. idk okay. i always liked the saying “requiem for a dream” and i thought “requiem” sounded and wrote itself so cool so i just took it, and i actually only googled later on what it means and i realized it’s not the greatest word out there lol but now i’m too attached to how it sounds and don’t want to change it.

settling down. lame, i know, but i just want to be able to afford a house in my hometown, make it super pretty and what i always wanted, get a puppy, get married, have kids, the usual jazz. i always wanted to be an author so ngl if i ever get my ass off the ground and finish a project and someone wants to publish it i won’t say no, but i’ve gotten to a point where i’m very happy with my life and myself and wouldn’t even need that anymore.

J - WHAT IS THEIR MOST IRRATIONAL FEAR?

The thing you need to now about Josh is that he’s got an active imagination, alright? And he’s really into movies. He is also southern. And from Florida. So, you can’t really hold this against him. But RED DAWN, it’s gonna happen. To him, it’s not an irrational fear, ok? It’s an inevitable situation. Now, he’s not saying it’s going to be the Soviet Union, Cubans or Nicaraguans like the original 1984 movie suggested. He’s also not saying that it’ll be the North Koreans backed by the Russians like in the 2012 remake. But it’s going to happen. And yea, it freaks him out. The thought keeps him up at night. So, sometimes when he gets too in his head about it, he might start drawing up some plans for an escape route for him and his love ones. HE’S NOT CRAZY, OK? 

O - HOW MUCH HAVE THEY CHANGED IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS?

Honestly, a little. Like, a lot has changed. But he’s still the same Josh he’s always been. Five years ago, he was a goofy, frat guy who loved watching nascar with his best friend, going fishing and camping, playing baseball and hanging out with his wife. Now, he is still a total goofball, loves watching nascar with his best friend, going fishing and camping, playing baseball and hanging out with his wife and children. But he’s changed in the way that…the things that used to be important to him aren’t. Like, in college, all he really wanted out of life was to be a professional baseball player. A wife and family, yes. But baseball first. Now, he just wants to devote his life to being a good father and husband. He’s definitely less of a frat guy though. Josh was never a wild animal in college but he was known to get drunk and do some pretty stupid things. He doesn’t take risks like that any more. He also doesn’t drink anymore. Also, the issues he had with his own family have gotten better. He met his father, started a relationship with him and his family. He has siblings now, which he loves. He’s also forgiven his grandparents for lying to him. He visits them a couple times a year and they visit him. His relationship with his mother hasn’t changed but that’s mostly because she doesn’t have any interest in fixing their issues. He’s definitely grown as a person and is much better for it. 

S - HOW DO THEY TELL SOMEONE THEY’RE SORRY?

He’s never been afraid to own up to his mistakes. If he’s done something wrong and you come to him about it, he’s quick to listen and understand and make a heartfelt apology. How he does it, well, that depends. If it’s over a small grievance. He usually would just flat out say he’s sorry and will try to do better and thank the person for coming to him about it. If it’s something big, something that demands an action to prove he’s sorry, he’ll do it. He’s really a good guy. He does dumb things without realizing it but he’s never been the type to callously hurt another. 

H - WHO TEXTS/CALLS THEM THE MOST?

So, Deanna definitely texts him the most. Like, all day, every day. But Ian calls him the most. He and Ian were college roommates. They spent four years seeing each other every day. Four years of chit chats in the morning over breakfast, four years or playing video games, watching the race/game, planning Halloween costumes and having dinner together. And don’t ever, ever forget about their nightly talk. Four years of giving each other the run down of their day, talking about their hopes and dreams, their worries, the secrets they’d only share with each other. And now they live so far a part. It’s really hard on them, honestly. So, while it’s not daily (their wives felt it was too much), they do talk on the phone a lot. At least three times a week. 

U - WOULD THEY RATHER BE SINGLE OR IN A RELATIONSHIP?

In a relationship. But specifically, in a relationship with Deanna. Josh has always been a kind of guy who loves love. But being in love with Deanna is the best thing ever for him. So, if he can’t be married to her then, he wants to be single forever. Sorry ladies, she’s it for him. 

A - WHO ARE THEIR EXES? DO THEY STILL KEEP IN TOUCH?

Listen…I’ve got some exes and names and stuff but I’ve done a bad job at remember those names. Sooooo, names aren’t important. Josh’s first girlfriend was in kindergarten. He didn’t really have much say in it but they got married about 8 times. She strung him along until 2nd grade when she transferred to a different class and decided another boy was more convenient to be married to. He hasn’t spoken to her since the messy divorce. His next girlfriend wasn’t until middle school. I say girlfriend but it was…less. They would have lunch together, hang out at gym and went to the dances together. They also do not have contact. He had a couple of girlfriends in high school. One he doesn’t keep in touch with at all. No real reason other than they’ve grown apart. The other is a good friend of his, who married another good friend of his. They FB each other a lot about how cute their kids are. Freshman year of college, he was hung up on a junior girl. She played him, hard. When she dropped him, it hurt. He never thought he’d get over it. So, Sophomore year, he went through a string of girls. The one that stuck out the most was a girl named Lexi. They both wanted something laid back and causal. So when they started to catch feelings, they called it off. Throughout college, they remained friendly. But no contact since. His junior year, he took a girl named Autumn on a date. It didn’t pan out. His fault. He was head over heels for Deanna. They dated for a while and then eloped like the two crazy kids in love that they were. Like…two years later, things went south. Josh graduated college, was starting his career and Deanna was still in college. The distance caused a lot of damage. BUT WHAT CAUSED THE MOST WAS DEANNA MAILING HIM DIVORCE PAPERS. WHO DOES THAT?! After that, zero contact. He met a girl shortly after (while stupid drunk). Her name was Abby, she was nice. They hooked up (while stupid drunk) and that one night stand led to his daughter, Rachel. He and Abby tried to make it work. But he was still hung up (and technically married) to Deanna. That, plus other issues eventually caused Abby to leave him and Rachel. Zero contact there too. BUT GUESS WHO IS BACK IN TOWN AND BACK IN BED?! His wife. That’s right. They’re a hot mess but they looooooove each other. Ok, bye.

M - WHEN’S THE LAST TIME THEY TALKED TO THEIR MOM?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THIS HURTS OMG! Alright, so Mateo’s relationship with his mother is…non-existent. She abandoned him (and his brothers and father) when he was eight. However, when he was an adult, he decided he needed to close the book on his mommy/abandonment issues. So, he wrote her a letter. It was a heavy letter, ok? Like, it took him a long time to write everything he needed to say and many, many drafts. But he did it and sent it. He never expected a reply, especially since he wasn’t totally sure if they address he had was still current. He definitely didn’t expect her to JUST SHOW UP BECAUSE LIKE WHO DOES THAT?! THIS ISN’T A SOAP OPERA, BITCH! It wasn’t so much of a talk as much of him straight up ignoring her, refusing to look at her and then eventually yelling at her and telling her to “do what’s she’s best at and leave.” So….yea…#familyfuntimes

ALRIGHT SO THIS MAN HOE DON’T REALLY HAVE EXES, OK?! I mean, we can go through the long list of women he’s slept with but I don’t have time for that, you don’t have time for that so like, let’s skip it. And I know what you’re thinking right now, “What about Bethany? She’s an ex.” WHO SAID THEY WERE OVER?! I mean, technically he did, in a very mean way. But like, couples fight?? Ok, I’ll be serious. Bethany Dawson is the first girlfriend he’s ever had and sadly, they’re currently exes. They didn’t talk for a long, long time and it was 100% his fault. But now fate has decided they’re back in each other’s life. He wants to do nothing but talk to her and she wants to do nothing with him. So…it’s awkward. But he also has an ex after Bethany. It was maybe…two years after he broke up with Bethany. He didn’t really expect anything to happen, he was still going through a lot. But he met a girl through one of his friends. Her name was Julia and they hit it off. Next thing he knows, they’re getting serious. They dated a little over a year. They broke up because she was ready for a house, marriage and children. And while he wanted those things too, he had just started his own business and felt it would’ve been too much. They keep in touch but not as much as either would like to. They’re just going in different directions. 

T - HOW QUICK ARE THEY TO CRY?

Lmao, surprisingly pretty quick, though depends on the circumstance. Being the youngest of 5 boys, he grew a pretty thick skin at a young age. So he doesn’t really cry at teasing or anything like that. He also doesn’t cry due to physical pain. But man, you put on The Land Before Time and he’ll cry. That’s a sad movie! He’ll try to cover it up though. But really, he isn’t a big crier unless it’s something silly like a sad scene in a movie. 

E - ARE THEY THE HAPPIEST THEY’VE EVER BEEN?

Yes and no? Back in his playboy days, he thought he was the happiest anyone could be. But he realized, after Bethany, he was really missing out on true happiness. And he ruined it because of his fears and issues. So, he’s so happy that she’s back in his life. But not happy given the fact that he knows he’s hurt her so badly. He’s broken up about it, honestly. So it’s a weird mix of both happiness and regret. But I do think he’s the happiest he’s ever been just because he’s older, wiser and knows what he wants out of life and he’s not afraid like he used to be. He’s always been a confident person but never this confident in himself. 

O - HOW MUCH HAVE THEY CHANGED IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS? 

So much! He used to be a dumb jock who only cared about partying and sleeping with a bunch of different girls. But now he’s matured and while he can still be that dumb jock at times, he knows that it’s not all about the party or the girls. He’s also worked through a lot of the issues that his mother’s abandonment put him through. He’s sought therapy and it’s helped. He’s also has a mature relationship where serious talks about marriage and children came into play. Five years ago, if a girl talked about getting married, he’d sneak out her window in the middle of the night and fake his death. Now, that’s something he wants. Something he’s comfortable talking about. He’s still an idiot though, let’s be real.
