Colored it.  I wasn’t sure what Testudo or Terrapin’s colors were going to be so I guess these are first drafts at those two.

I intend to color this but I should’ve been in bed an hour ago.

Testudo had a draft design that I scribbled on a receipt and then didn’t save.  He’s dressed vaguely like Brendan because he was sent over to Hoenn for EV Training (uh...boarding school.  yeah).

Terrapin I just made up on the spot.  He’s just a Wartortle for the living dex and he doesn’t have an everstone because he just never leaves the box.  Lazy little thing.

TJ is my Diamond starter.  I named him Tortoise Jr. because turtles.  He was then presented to Tortoise and Topanga who said ‘yes’ and walked away with him.  Did you know: Blastoise are 5′3″ tall, while Torterras are 7′3″?  Absolute units.

Not pictured: numerous Turtwigs dittoed off of TJ (including Prescott), numerous wild-caught Meowth who all consider themselves siblings with Topanga as the eldest (including Tululu), and the entire branch of the family coming off of Tortoise’s ‘sister,’ Eliza.  (Side note: Caesar isn’t a remade genwunner so he’s not a sibling to Tortoise and Eliza.  He’s the start of a new lineage)

ha, so I’ve been doing big pictures of my pokemon gijinkas

Part of the purpose of doing gijinka designs for all my Pokemon is to detangle a bunch of old story fragments I had from being a kid.  I actually don’t remember most of the characters in my original Blue Version, but I definitely remember Topanga and Tortoise.  They’re the key to figuring out a cohesive narrative to this mess.  Or maybe not?  Maybe I just like cats and turtles?  There’s some rough sketch ideas in here too.

Reason number one that I haven’t settled on a specific setting structure for these is that they’re basically human pets and I need that to not be terrible.  For example: in-game, TJ is just my starter Torterra from Diamond.  Starters are male 7/8ths of the time and everyone eventually Ditto-breeds their starter en masse to trade with their friends.  I had a few untraded TJ babies that are stuck with me now (because DS online is long dead), so I transferred one up to Black and EV trained him.  And he’s cute, so I gave him his own gijinka design.  Wait, though!  Is human!TJ a dad?  Should I just...pretend they’re not related?  How do Ditto work in this context?

My primary hobby is overthinking, so I guess I gave myself a true gift with this one!

today was a weird goodbad day for productivity.  woke up at noon, played pokemons in bed for an hour.  woke up and slammed out a bunch of popkas for the popkas queue and did some work on a title card for the youtube channel...and then lost that momentum about halfway through and went to play four hours of skyrim instead.  In between every little thing I did more drawings of Pokemon gijinkas.  Hopper is an Empoleon, he lives in Platinum.  Tortoise Jr. is my Torterra, he’s in Diamond.  ????? the Infernape lives in Diamond and I sure do wish I could properly give him a name.  He came out of the GTS (y’know, back when 4th gen online existed) and his species name was in katakana.  It switched to English when he evolved.  I don’t know what to name him.
