This is the level of fiscal irresponsibility I bring to the table:
One day when I was 18, I was out joyriding around with a buddy, sometime right after 4:20, and decided we needed some sonic. Required it, actually.
The job I had at the time paid me through an agency, who mailed my checks to me. My account was at zilch at the time and I knew it. But my paycheck was due that very day and the check I wrote for our food wouldn’t bounce because I’d beat it to the bank. So I wasn’t sweating that hot check I wrote for our brown bag special of burgers and fries.
Well, then because 4:20 hit so hard, we quickly realized one round wasn’t enough. So I wrote ANOTHER hot check and we absolutely chowed the hell down.
Well OF COURSE the company didn’t send my check on time, so OF COURSE they both bounced. And because we’d made it two separate orders/checks, I had to pay a $25 fee for each one. A total of $60 odd bucks for sonic burgers (equivalent to $134 today).
Sad shit is, I’d do it again. Those were probably the tastiest burgers I ever ate in my damn life. 🤤
