“I am Erratic (2016)”
Mooste, Estonia. July, 2016
Poster in frame, ready found installation
For the exhibition “Omega 3″ in a flax seed sorting factory in Mooste, Estonia. A poster was placed in a found frame and hung in the office completing, as it were, a ready found installation. This small intervention brings together the tangible remnant of an engaged walking score performed in Mooste in 2014 and a three week dialogue with the factory space prior to the exhibition. It conjures questions of being carried somewhere by forces outside of one’s control. How does one end up - like boulders carried on Ice Age glaciers - in an unlikely, unexpected space and at what point can one claim a sense of belonging? The factory and its office have been a fixed witness to the history of decades and are a testament to the past as well as the present. The frame with its content have been added to this history and intend to become a permanent fixture until the day the building crumbles. As with all the other objects in the space, it claims a small notion of belonging to a particular moment in time. We are all erratics, we all belong to the space we possess at any given time.
