Bertholdt was always sneaking glances over at her. Annie could tell he was doing it when he thought she wasn't looking, but she often caught him staring. She didn't mind. The blonde girl knew her friend was shy and telling her his feelings would be way out of his comfort zone. Annie settled for his silent stares, knowing that it was his way of showing he cared. Sometimes she would catch herself staring back and daydreaming about how things might be if they weren't titan shifters. The two of them stayed in a mutual watching from a distance type of relationship for awhile until one night at dinner, Reiner left his usual place at Bertholdt's side to go attempt to flirt with Chista while Ymir was off fighting with Connie. Bertl was left by himself at the table in the corner. With some persuading by Mina--who had caught onto the reason Annie so often spaced out in Bertl's direction--Annie gathered up her courage and sat down next to the object of her desires. She slipped a hand under the table and let it rest on her friend's thigh. "Come outside in a few minutes," she instructed cryptically before standing again and making her way toward the door out. She would wait outside for him to join. Annie wasn't exactly sure what would happen next, but at least she finally started the ball rolling.

That concludes my participation in this year's ReiBert Week. Next up on the schedule is JeanBert Week later this month. Requests are still open (because I would like to have more than ReiBert here and have more writing practice) but they may close if I have too much to do for university this term.
