in America we have the electoral college where basically each state is assigned a number of votes it gets based upon it's population. Who the votes go to is based on which candidate got the most votes within that state, which caused the states full of white supremacy groups to go even redder than normal w/ massive voter turnout and their electoral votes went for Trump leading him to 270. It's a shitty stupid system and 2/3 of our last Presidents lost the popular vote but still won the nominee.
