You say this contest is based on the art not the author or the book itself so why are you not acknowledging my request for the illustrated Harry Potter covers by Jim Kay. I have asked if you need me to send links to them but you haven't even answered that?

If you're unsure about Harry Potter covers being included because of JKR maybe do a side poll for it.

What makes that person think the Christmas Carol cover is AI generated? The cover is shown on loads of book sites.

unfortunately, ai generated book covers are being published. if you look closely, lots of details don't make sense. like, what is even being shown here?

the way the cape attaches to the ground, the ugly car wheels, the fuckass lamppost... the windows of all the houses, the way the snow covers the houses at the end of the street, or whatever that's supposed to be showing

This tournament is great, but unfortunately it's proven that a lot of people have terrible taste in covers 😞 It's subjective, I know, but also genuinely baffling. You do you, guys, but... I really have no idea why some people laud covers clearly made with the least amount of effort and little to no creativity...

sometimes i'll be setting up a poll and think one will be the clear winner, or at least the other will clearly flop, and then everyone loves the one i thought would lose... it's been a humbling experience LOL

i won’t say which title, but i’m so glad a certain book is losing this round because i can’t stand the book but i’ve been grudgingly voting for it each time since the cover is so good. i did vote for it again! but finally it’s met its match and i hopefully won’t have to vote for it anymore 😂

My conclusion as this tournament progresses: I have no understanding of what the world considers a good book cover, and now I'm not even sure what I like any more.

Having a great time though! Fascinating and I so appreciate all the work you've put in.

In the vein of this poll, what genre do you think tends to have the best covers?

ooh, that's a good question! i'd have to say fantasy or sci fi, especially older books. i LOVE things like Hurok of the Stone Age, with epic landscapes and figures from the story, and 70s sci fi and fantasy art was really killing it in that department.

i'll do another side poll for this too, using the same genres as the other poll (sorry they're kind of random, i used a list of common book genres i found online)
