A fellow CED PCV and I spent last weekend in Tsumeb, working with Reverend Amadhilla who leads the TOV Orphanage, Multi-purpose Center, and farm. These are photos from the farm which is 50 km outside of Tsumeb in a beautiful agricultural area.
Everyone we met at the organization was passionate, purposeful, and energetic. I was so inspired by the Reverend’s entrepreneurial spirit, and drive to have the center be self-sustaining in the future, not relying on donations. At the moment they are selling both fresh and dried Spinach grown at the farm.
Our meeting was an initial one to better understand the soul and daily operations of TOV. Along with my fellow PCV, I will help the Reverend immediately by writing proposal for certain functional items needed to run the income-generating activities. Early next year I plan to train the farm team in the Permagardening techniques I learned last week. There will be more to come in the future with this great organization. I am so glad to partner with them! Be on the lookout for ways to contribute soon.
