Hi Kharlo! I saved my step-dad's Xbox 360 from winding up in a landfill and wondered if you had any recommendations? I've never had an xbox and you always give such good recommendations (btw, you're awesome and my best to you and Buck!)
Thanks so much! :DAs for your question:1.) Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise: Probably one of my favorite games ever, it looks deceptively simple. You basically raise a garden with Piñata animals in it, and you get more by attracting new residents and sending them off to parties and mating them and so on. The game is super fun and charming and will eat away at hundreds and hundreds of hours of your time before you even notice. Honestly, the best thing Rare has ever made, even including their time with Nintendo. Get TP instead of the original because it has a couple of extras and they cost about the same, AFAIK.2.) Fable II & III: Really fun action RPGs with a lot of humor and charm, gorgeous art design, great story telling, and a glorious musical score. These games are a blast to play, since you basically build your hero to be anything you want them to be as time passes: good, evil, neutral, gay, straight, bi, etc. Really, really entertaining.3.) Halo: Reach: Since you’ve never had an Xbox, you probably have never played Halo, and Reach is a perfect place to start. It has the best single player story (phenomenal really), and it’s a prequel to the series, so you won’t have to catch up on lore too much.4.) Lost Odyssey: Just got this one recently. Everyone who played it said it was what FF XIII should have been, and playing it now in 2017, I can agree. It’s a very traditional JRPG with some twists to the combat, but the story is excellent, the characters are great, the combat is fun, and music is amazing (Nobuo Uematsu made the score). It’s made by Mistwalker Studio, a game developer started by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, after he left Square half-way through FF XII’s development.5.) Blue Dragon: Mistwalker’s answer to Dragon Quest. Not as good as Lost Odyssey, but surprisingly underrated and a gem. Gorgeous art and graphics and a really fun combat system. Again, excellent music as well.6.) Alan Wake: One of the best survival-horror games released in the last decade, this one is more about suspense and good writing than anything. Think of it as Stephen King done by Remedy (the guys behind Max Payne). It’s really, really, really good and compelling. Worth checking out.7.) Kameo: Elements of Power: It’s Rare’s weird version of Majora’s Mask, with a main character in a fantasy world beating dungeons and using different forms (in Kameo’s case, she can change into different creatures) to solve puzzles and so on. Unlike MM, it doesn’t have a time limit, but also, unlike MM, it’s not as dark or deep. Still a lot of fun and the art remains beautiful to this day.8.) Perfect Dark HD: Skip the ugly mess that is Perfect Dark Zero and get the XBLA HD remaster of the original Perfect Dark. This is what PD was meant to run like but the N64 simply couldn’t handle Rare’s ambition. High rest textures at 60FPS and it still plays well and looks wonderful. Dirt cheap too.A lot of its other best games were ported to other consoles or PC (like Mass Effect). But there’s tons of awesome third party multiplatform games as well.
