But today was the first time I took the time to get away from the race track and explore the town. What I found was amazing woodwork. Romanians are pretty handy when it comes to sculpting wood, so this part of Transylvania is no exception. These traditional wooden gates, topped with a special beam designed for pigeons, are well preserved by the Szeklers that settled in these parts. The myth behind the pigeon beam was that the birds represent the souls of the former residents of the house.
