let me mention something idk if i'm wrong... elena is sired to damon because she had human feelings for him and it was his blood who made her a vampire... now katherine's blood made stefan and damon vampires and they had human feelings for her why didn't they where sired to katherine?
this is a great question and we don't know. I guess that Damon might have been sired to Katherine honestly. He didn't know but it would explain his crazy behaviour, his huge obsession for her. His sire bond being broken when she said that she didn't love him, never had loved him (2x01). I guess Stefan didn't really love her, at least not enough because the sire bond is rare, but I don't know.
Another explanation is that if they weren't sired to her, it would mean that it takes "too much love" (like Shane said) to create this sire bond. So maybe that Elena loved Damon more than Damon loved Katherine, and that this love was so true and real, that it created the bond. Again, I don't know, really, just speculations :)

well the sire bond is something that rarely happens i believe (correct me if i'm wrong) so i think it's just a coincidence that elena is sired to damon :) i'm not sure about this though..
