Stim Toy Review: Unicorn Snot
I saw this stuff at Target, and figured friends with ADHD, autism, and other "stimmy" disorders would want to know about it.
So. This is Unicorn Snot.
I've always been a fan of Silly Putty, purple, and unicorns, so this one was a no-brainer. Plus, it was a DOLLAR! Can't beat that!
The stuff is purple with glitter mixed in, and comes in a little plastic gem. This case is resealable, but doesn't feel all that sturdy.
But the biggest surprise came when I opened that plastic gem and the smell of this stuff hit my nostrils. Because it wasn't Silly Putty after all.
It was Gak.
For those of you under 20, trust me when I say that Gak was Nickelodeon's big thing in the 90s. Their TV studio in Universal Studios Orlando even had a fountain that spewed lime-green Gak 24/7. It was the stuff Mark Summers got splayed with on Double Dare. Gak, in short, is my CHILDHOOD in slimy, goopy form.
It squishes and behaves just like Gak, making it a lot of fun to stim with.
The only downside is, that glitter isn't mixed in very thoroughly, so you'll get Craft Herpes all over your hands. But for $1, it's still pretty good.
Now, since I’m riding the nostalgia train, the original Gak ad from the 90′s:
And a more recent ad from 2012, when Nick brought the stuff back:
