On the day where my fellow comrades march against patriarchy, my heart and spirit are with them. My anxiety didn't allow me to join them (I'm not good with large crowds), but I shared what would've been my poster on Instagram and decided to dress up like a superhero. We may choose to wear vintage and look like we're from the 40s/50s, but our modern thoughts and principles mean we aren't going to sit back and do nothing about the situation. It's not just about the recently inaugurated president, it's about women's rights and equality and fighting against patriarchy. I spend my whole life fighting racism and sexism and even though today I failed to make an appearance I will forever fight for equality for both women and the LGBTQ community in ways I know how to.

So here is my vintage superhero outfit. I've been wanting to wear this glamorous Fatale Forest Green Sequin Pencil Dress for a while, but Christmas and NYE came and gone and I didn't get the opportunity to. So today I thought stuff it and decided to wear it to get coffees. Yeah I decided to dress up to get coffess - that's normal, right? Don't worry, I rewore it to dinner too last night. This lovely dress is actually quite stretchy and quite generous sizing-wise so I would recommend going with your hip size rather than your waist. I belted it with a belt I got from another TPDC dress but it doesn't actually come with one. It definitely is one of the most glamorous dresses I own but hey we all should make excuses to dress up once in a while.
It's been pretty cold lately but I managed to get away with just layering with this velvet coat dress. I've had this piece for a couple of years now - it's from Evelyn Wood Vintage Fashion House. It was a deliberate choice as I was itching to wear my new Polly gloves. Ever since I saw Dita Von Teese wearing an long pair I've been hunting for the perfect one for myself. I usually wear a size 6.5-7 glove but I went for a size 7 in this pair. In size 7 the hand part is perfect and it's quite roomy around the arm. I had tried on the size 6.5 and found that it was a touch too tight around the hand and I couldn't button it up properly. I do believe they would stretch so either size would've worked. They come up higher than the elbows and perfect for wearing with short sleeved coats. They are not super thick and very buttery leather but I'm kinda grateful that I will still get to wear them when the season changes.
I also want to quickly talk about my makeup. I recently tried some more Besame Cosmetics products and I used three of them for this look. I used Vanilla Brightening Powder to reduce redness on my sensitive skin and add the right amount of red with the Crimson Cream Rogue. I have always loved Besame products because they're heavily pigmented and they last forever, but I particularly love their lipsticks because they do not dry my lips! For this look I went for the 1945 American Beauty and you can see that the colour is so brilliantly vibrant and I don't need to reapply this even after coffee!
I have to say that I'm sorry I wasn't there at the marches. I feel bad about it, but I know I would've felt worse if I was there and I wasn't there 100 percent. I know some of you understand my dilemma, but hey you also know how I feel about these issues so I don't think I need to explain any further. This weekend I hope we are at least talking about the marches, starting conversations and discussions about why these marches are important and why equality is still an issue. I love you all - we can fight this!
