I made my way through the crowd searching for my group. Everyone was rushing off when the tutors announced that we were to get the day off. No one knew why, but since these days off were fairly uncommon no one questioned it. Everyone hurried off to whatever they wanted to do, in fright of that if they stayed behind a mere second the principal of the Academy would change her mind. I was by far one of the shortest persons and while the crowd was pushing forward, desperate to get out of the dim hallways and into the sunshine, I stood no chance against being pushed back and forth between the muscular boys and girls. Eventually we made it to the gates and I spotted Christina and the others, seemingly waiting for someone. I made my way over to them, and forced myself to smile. Honestly they were nothing special, but I needed their popularity so I went to great extents to make them love me. Not that I minded really, since I loved the attention.
“There you are!” Christina exclaimed and waved me over to them. “Percy wanted us to leave, but I told him that we could not even think about leaving without you!” She shot him a stern look, and brushed some of her golden hair away from her face. Percy was scraping the soil with the tip of his shoe, not daring to glance up at me. If he had, he would most definitely have felt uneasy of the look I gave him. Too bad that one cannot kill with a murderous glance. “Well..” I stuck my chin out and continued in a cold tone of voice. “If Percy is so impatient, then why can’t he just go alone. ” I smirked, and then others sniggered. “Isn’t that what you want, Percy?” I continued sweetly. We all walked away. Percy was of course not included, but what had he expected after speaking up against Christina?
The sea would always be my greatest joy, and we had barely put down our stuff before I ran excitedly into the waves and let them pull me under. Normally I would stick around the others, if just to soak up all the compliments, but the sea was something that I found better than all of that. After what seemed like an eternity under the clear blue water, I broke the surface and spotted Llyr close by. I had never really talked to him. Partly because he didn’t hang with the people that I did, and partly because I didn’t like strong personalities. I preferred people that were easily manipulated.
