Artwork @hornybishop "In 2014, Brandon started his art career, while studying business administration. Brandon studied business administration and durning one of his classes, there was this activity where all the students of the classroom had to introduce themselves. When you introduce yourself the next person has to mention the previous person and what that other person likes. So I kept it simple, when I had my turn I said: "My name is Brandon, I'm 19 and I like art". So the first time people repeated what I said it was fine, no much reaction to it. But, when the fifth time came in, you could hear the laughs, almost like if liking art was something to be ashamed of. That day when I got home, I said to myself "I'm going to prove them wrong", so I started drawing and I didn't non stop. I remember I came off with 3 drawings in a single day, I didn't even eat dinner. I was so determined to get good. I won't deny it, humiliation and ridicule, that's what lit a fire in me. Now 3 years later, my style, my abilities, my goals have changed. I draw because I'm great at it and a lot of people like them and I mean a lot. Can't blame them. I'll close with this, anything that happens in your life, weather is good or bad, it really doesn't matter. “Provo tutta la sfera delle emozioni. La macchina fotografica è il mio pensiero, la mia mente e la mia vista”. Emi Anrakuji( @emi_anrakuji ) nasce nel 1963 a Tokyo, città dove attualmente vive e lavora e dove, da ragazza, ha studiato pittura ad olio presso la Musashino University of Art and Music . Poco dopo la laurea, all’età di 20 anni, le è stata diagnosticata un tumore cerebrale che ha profondamente influenzato la sua vista e la sua attività artistica per circa un decennio. Durante la sua graduale ripresa ha iniziato a fotografare, prima ciò che le stava intorno, poi se stessa. Chiusa in una stanza, la malattia, la solitudine, la noia, la voglia di esplorare, di esplolarsi e di vivere, così Emi in un intervista rilasciata nel 2015 : “Non sono fotografie erotiche, ma immagini nate come microcosmi nella mia visuale durante la malattia. Ho iniziato a intravedere il merletto del cuscino, le macchie sulle lenzuola e li ho catturati. Sono stati momenti cruciali, la macchina fotografica è diventata un nuovo paio d’occhi.Ero sola, ovunque. Il mio volto non lo rivelo mai“. I suoi scatti non passano inosservati tantè che viene ritenuta una delle fotografe emergenti più interessanti del Giappone tantè che viene notata anche da Daido Moriyama Nel 2006 ha ottenuto il 22 ° premio Higashikawa New Photographer, presentato dall’Higashikawa International Photo Festival. I lavori di Anrakuji sono autoscatti, intimi, personali per questo a volte l’osservatore può sentirsi un po’ come uno spione che guarda dal buco della serratura una donna nuda, inconsapevole di essere spiata. Si perchè le foto esprimono anche un senso di naturalezza, sono armoniose nonostante siano introspettive. Emi gioca con la macchina fotografica, sua fedele compagna. Noi l’abbiamo conosciuta grazie al suo lavoro “1800 millimeters is the size of my bed”, la serie di foto scattate nei dieci anni di isolamento forzato . Quel 1800 millimetri si riferiscono allo spazio del letto in cui è stata costretta a stare. “Secondo me, quello che disegno non è erotismo. L’erotismo è solo un veicolo per esprimere dei sentimenti, delle idee surreali o affrontare una realtà depressa. È come quando mangiamo le patatine fritte: non cerchiamo la patata in sé, ma il gusto delle spezie che la aromatizzano” Human Chuo Human Chuo ( @humanchuo ) non è solo uno pseudonimo, è un mondo, o meglio è il mondo di una giovane e promettente artista. Illustratrice, perfomer e modella shibari, le parole giuste per descriverla ce le suggerisce proprio lei, scrive di se stessa :“sono una sirena, una strega, una ragazza pura in un mondo sporco”. Nasce nel sud della Cina 28 anni fa dove vive fino all’età di 22 anni, per poi trasferirsi a Parigi, dove tuttora vive e lavora. La sua arte è ispirata dalle sue emozioni. Le sue mani lavorano sempre a nuove creazioni, in modo diligente e naturale disegnano utilizzando inchiostro, penne, colori, tutto ciò possa essere usato per materializzare su foglio ciò che la sua anima percepisce. I suoi soggetti sono volti, situazioni sensuali, erotiche (anche se lei non le definisce tali), scene di cannibalismo, e tanto della cultura orientale. I volti non appaiono mai felici, sono malinconici, misteriosi, hanno un aura innocente e ingenua. Questo è il più grande contrasto nell’arte di Human Chuo, erotismo e innocenza. Altro fattore presente in molte sue opere è l’ironia, alcune scene ritratte sono divertenti, esilaranti e surreali. Non solo disegni ma anche performance. Si esibisce come performer shibari a Parigi, a Lione, negli USA, per gallerie e eventi d’arte. Quello che vuole rappresentare è la lotta nella vita tra il “dolce e l’amaro, tra il dolore e il piacere. L’endorfina che sprigiona la sua arte è il risultato di questa lotta individuale che poi traspare anche nella sua produzione grafica.
