Patrons always needed
For the last few years, I have managed to squirrel away enough time to write and produce several new zines and a book. To do this I had to cobble together minutes here and there with notes and emails to myself. It is a maddening way to write, but it was all I had. I cannot borrow time from my family to write. I cannot take time off from work to write. I have to write in the creases of my life, on the tattered pieces of paper I keep in my pockets. But that was then.
I told you about my new job. With this new job comes new work hours. With new work hours comes more opportunity to write. In order to facilitate this new time to write, I needed to get setup with a place I can go to in order to write each day without interruption. So I rented a desk in the Orange Street Collective offices, which is right across the street from my new job. I have a desk and a lamp and a laptop and 45 minutes each weekday to sit and write. That may not sound like much, but it is a lot to me.
I have hovered around 40 patrons on Patreon for the last few years. Now that I have a new book out, my hope is to double that number in the near future. I know it is a hard sell. I sound like an infomercial when I say “For only $12 a year, you can blah blah blah…”.
