Had viral laryngitis and tracheitis the last two and a half weeks. Triggering, and triggered by my asthma. Cure is to get my asthma under control, according to my doctor a week ago.

Now it hurts when I blow my nose. Trying to decide if I should go back to my doctor... perhaps have a sinus infection?? Argh. It’s gonna be so hard to get appointments this close to Easter...

Think I’m gonna suck it up... ugh.

Im doing research on canine parainfluenza for a class and I was wondering if you knew any methods of treatments that are commonly used in clinics.

Well, the trouble is that in most cases we don't do testing to distinguish the exact cause of canine tracheitis/bronchitis, due to expense and the fact that most canine respiratory infections are multifactorial. So I can't say I've ever seen a case wth a confirmed diagnosis of parainfluenza (or Bordetella, etc). Instead we tend to do "shotgun" therapy where we treat for inflammation, allergies/environmental irritants, provide supportive care, and, if the vet is suspicious of bacterial infection (whether primary or secondary to a virus), an antibiotic.

Went to the vet, I have a sore throat and am on medication. If I am not better in the next week I’ll get antibiotics. I have tracheitis.

Taking rests, eating well, sleeping lots.

Back to the E.R. Another Nebulizer as you can see. Tracheitis on top of the bronchitis. But they really aren't doing much. Just more prednisone and another z-pack. They didn't even give me any cough syrup. Does it seem like they are under treating? This ER doctor said this could last 5 to 6 weeks. My colonoscopy/endoscopy is got to be rescheduled obviously. I know this is all being compounded by not having my IVIG but still. I would think heavier antibiotics then a Z-pack?
