Fourth URL in three years. Heh. I'm fickle. (The only one that didn't last more than a year was take-the-wheel-and-steer, cause it was dumb.)
I've been wanting to change it for a while, but couldn't think of one that felt right (and that was available!). I resorted to going through the discography of one of my favourite artists, Ludovico Einaudi, and looking at names of the tracks. Tracce is one of them, from Le Onde (1996), which is one of his best albums.
Tracce is Italian for traces, remnants, imprints, trails, vestiges - you get it. It's very appropriate because I basically use Tumblr as a record of "This is what I liked at the time and that's how much I liked it." That is, my posts are imprints of how exactly I felt in that specific moment. Tracce.
Ok so this is a tag game apparently. Ticia is making me (plus I like answering questions about myself - it makes me feel special).
I'm going to break rule 3 and not tag 11 people because I have no friends - but if you feel like playing along then go to it!
Rule 1: Always post the rules.
Rule 2: Answer the questions the person who tagged you asked and then write 11 new ones.
Rule 3: Tag 11 people and link them in the post.
Rule 4: Actually tell them you tagged them.
1) What is the first book that really had an impact on you / that you remember loving?
Ooo god um. Not gonna lie it was probably Black Beauty. My parents used to read to me every night when I went to bed, and more often not that was what I asked for - they must have been sick of it. I genuinely don't know whether it caused my love for horses or vice versa - thats how far back it is. Also its probably a large part of the reason i'm interested in History - certainly the film adaptation Has always been my favourite period film.
2) Who was your first crush?
Depends on your definition of a crush. At primary school there were times I convinced myself I liked boys but looking back it was incredibly half-assed. Most of them were idiots.
If you count celebrities then that would be Johnny Depp (in year 6 I had a picture of him stuck to the underside of the lid on my school desk so i could stare at him whenever i was getting my pencil case out.)
First 'actual' crush would I suppose be when I was 15, as I ended up dating him for a bit. But then again it only lasted 3 months so I'm not convinced I actually liked him all that much.. In sum - I don't really know!
3) Is there anything you wish could be different in your relationship with your family?
I actually wish I was more independent from my parents. I'm the youngest of 3 sibings and I've always been the well behaved 'stay at home' one. I wish I had more courage (like my older sister) to go off and do my own thing.
4) A song you’ve been listening to a lot lately?
I'm actually having a Horrible Histories phase because I am AWESOME. Probably my favourite one is Charles II King of Bling. But I also love the Dick Turpin song - heck it inspired my dissertation.
In terms of serious music though I have a lot of love for 'Stay With Me' by NO.
Also I've got into 8tracks and this is my favourite playlist. The first track 'Two Hornpipes' by Hans Zimmer is great. If I ever get married (by some miracle) I would want a lot of these songs played at the reception (Which would be held in a lush green field on a sunny day, obvs)
5) Have you ever seen snow? If so, what’s your best memory of it? If not, what would you most like to do if you had the opportunity to play in it?
Yep! Especially the past few years - it's started snowing more consistently here in the UK. I think my favourite memory was a few years back when I went for a riding lesson and it had snowed the night before. Most people hadn't turned up so my, my instructor and one other girl took 3 of the horses and went and had a blast through the untouched snowy fields. Nothing like galloping across a huge open space in a spray of snow.
6) What are some of the things that you disliked as a child, but that you quite like nowadays?
Cider. Talking to adults (I still don't count myself as an adult). My dad's taste in music (some of it anyway, I will never like 'Yes').
7) Is there anyone you regret being friends with in the past?
A few, but one in particular. Essentially it feels like I wasted a lot of time on them (most of my life to be precise) - in the last few years they've made it increasingly clear that they didn't actually give a crap about me.
8) Have you ever been on a plane? If so, when was it, and where did you go? If not, where would you most like to go?
I have been on 4 planes in my life. The first 2 were to Edinburgh and back in Feb 2010 (I think) - My parents went to uni there and wanted to go back. It also turned out to be an attempt to force me to look at the uni (I was digging my heels in about uni at this stage) but probably the less said about that the better..
The second 2 were to and from Austria just this summer (2013). Flew to Vienna then drove to Bad Gastein for 2 weeks, then Back to vienna where we stayed for 4 days before the flight home. Love it in Vienna, it's seriously like 'land of the horses' And Austria in general is beautiful. Though I did wish I spoke more German.
9) What’s your current ringtone?
My phone is basically always set to silent so it just vibrates normally, plus no-one ever calls me. But I've jsut checked and apparently I have it set as 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)' by Green Day
10) Find the nearest photograph around you. Who/what is in it?
Well all of them are on the wall on the other side of the room. The Most interesting one i can see from here is one of my favourites - me aged about 6 and a horse called William who is trying to eat my hair.
11) Summer or winter?
Summer mainly, I hate being cold, and also I associate winter with being in school/uni and being stressed. I like bits of winter: early morning frosts, snow, knitted wooly things. But they get old rather quickly - can't compare to long summer days tramping in the countryside, hiking to the pub, days spend at the yard, riding for miles (including swimming through streams), getting sunburnt... Love summer.
My questions:
1) What historical period would you like to live in if you could go back in time
2) What movie has had the biggest impact on you and your life?
3) Favourite band/musician?
4) What is your most cherished childhood memory?
5) Your favourite season and why?
6) Favorite quote?
7) What animal do you think would be your Patronus?
8) One country have you always wanted to travel to, and why?
9) Favourite author?
10) If you could live in any fictional universe which would it be and why?
tracingcolours replied to your post: listening to the hunger games soundtrack and it’s...
is it really an unpopular opinion? I still love it, too.
i think so. with catching fire basically taking stuff word for word from the book, a lot of people are throwing shade on what gary ross did. but i still love it and love what he did with the story.
I KNEW you'd crush on Max, I KNEW IT, all that's missing is the eyeliner
Yeah I won't attempt to deny that it was inevitable... Actually I think he's good without the eyeliner - i'm learning to lower my standards ;) (I did also love the character in the book but that doesn't lessen my appreciation that they cast a good-looking guy to play him ;))
