There's been a recent conversation about Lucy experiencing lasting pain from her fall that has recontextualized the way I think about this moment from "Track Meet". She may be trembling from emotional stress, but it's also possible that she's shaking and holding her arm because of physical pain; she did land on her right side. She hasn't put extra strain on her arm (aside from slapping Paulo) in a way that's clearly analogous to how she exacerbated her hip injury in her race against James, but it's possible she experiences chronic pain that varies in intensity on a day-to-day basis.

I find the narrative choice to obscure how much physical pain Lucy is in from the audience until she's in a lot of emotional pain interesting. It makes the two feel deeply related, which in a sense they are; she would not have the physical injuries if not for past emotional ones. However, her physical pain level has probably been pretty consistent since her return; we're just seeing the cracks all at once since her facade is buckling under the emotional strain she's experiencing.

Yasammy Week ~ Day 5: Track Meet

Sometimes, Yaz needed that extra push to get to the finish line. Usually she’d picture her mom, cheering her on from the bleachers; she’d imagine going home to the smell of her kebabs with a shiny medal around her neck, or the praise of her personal trainers and coaches. Her mind would even wander to Sammy in Texas, picturing she was cheering her on, too. No matter how bad her legs burned, or how much sweat she had accumulated — that push is what kept her going.

The sketch of this drawing was so funny actually I did NOT know how to do the track field background. Sammy is Yaz’s number one supporter and I’m so glad the entire fandom agrees !!! They are so ride or die too, did you see Yaz defending her in Season 1 ??? Also The Long Run reference/j she was using her memories of Sammy as a lifeline that episode ,,
