Mewa Cultural Group - Bwala (Royal dance)
On sunday we went to an event with David, to experience the fascinating northern Lur culture of Uganda. This involved delicious traditional food tasting and lunch (a lot of pastes and good use of ground nuts and sesame seeds), it gave an understanding of the Lur food culture and preparation methods. This is useful for us as we are looking into the indigenous food cultures of Uganda, though Lur is only one out of many.
The event introduced us to some traditional dances (video) and we had the chance to join in on them with the other guests - though as the hosts of the event said - it is impossible not to move to the Lur rhytms.
