Emmett sat at his small desk that was placed in the corner of the living room of his top floor house rental. It was a cheap rental really, someone else lived in the basement, but they didn’t bother Emmett too much. The house was sort of OLD and in a sense some of it was FALLING APART, but it was liveable. He didn’t mind that it was old, that the floorboards CREAKED under him when he walked. He taps the pencil against the paper, looking down at the blueprints with a FROWN etched into his features. He just can’t seem to make it work, and his frustration was growing the more he tried.
The ringtone of his phone BREAKS the silence. If it was anybody else he probably would have ignored the call, but he KNEW that ringtone. He had chosen it specifically for Ian, so that he didn’t ignore the one person he only ever wanted to talk too. Glancing at the clock above the desk he sees that it’s a little past 3 am. Why was Ian calling him at 3 am?? Emmett ignores the part of him that HOPES it’s a booty call. It was true that he had an undeniable crush on the red headed man and he would give ANYTHING for Ian to just look in his direction. Of course, he knew better than this. He knew that Ian probably just needed a ride home from the bar, or maybe he had dialed his number by accident. Emmett grabs his phone, lifting it to his ear after tapping the screen to accept the call. “Ian??” He says into the phone, but he gets no response. “Hey, everything okay?” He can hear breathing on the other end, it sounds uneven. “If this is your idea of a prank call you should probably turn off your caller ID fir-” Emmett is cut off by a rush of WORDS spewing from Ian’s lips. He stops, he listens, he tries to gather whats going on. “Slow down, hey, I”m HERE. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere. Just breathe. I promise we’re going to make it through this you just need to breathe, start again, tell me whats wrong. I promise whatever it is I won’t stop until I make it okay.”
