we dance 'cause we're lost.
my suit for space flight, shield me from light. so, we stare straight at the sun, guns set for stun, and as we circle my eyes, they count the days... so, we blast out into the night, and aim for the light. we're floating in space in search of a home, with no radio. in rockets we sleep and hope it's a dream. forgotten when we're away... drive to work another way... drifting deeper into space... fall asleep at traffic lights... drift and dream of some new life... so we race satellites, and i run and play, and we dance 'cause we're lost. we're doomed astronauts. we're flying in rings around my eyes. we count the days... drive to work another way... drifting deeper into space... fall asleep at traffic lights... drift and dream of your new life...
The Life and Times - "Old Souls"
I mentioned Shiner in a recent post. They split in 2002, not long after they'd toured The Egg. A short while later, Singer Allen Epley returned to the stage with The Life and Times.
It's perhaps unfair to compare two bands just because they share some roots. Then again, it's difficult not to: TLaT builds on that thick sound with Epley's distinct voice over the top. Perhaps that's why, in TLaT, I sometimes hear an older, more mature Shiner. A chisel to Shiner's wrecking ball. A sniper rifle to Shiner's cannon. Quieter, calmer, but no less dangerous.
TLaT's fourth release, Tragic Boogie, is home to this little gem called "Old Souls." The song still resonates with me. It captures a spirit of beauty, hope, and sadness, wrapped in that heavy-yet-sweet blanket of sound. The video fits so well, you'd think they were written in tandem. ^QEM

It's raining here... ergo time to listen The Life and Times aka @tragicboogie. This is the best band nobody knows about. This song kind of reminds me of The For Carnation.
