— SEND 💖 TO HOLD MY MUSE’S HAND @tragic-juliet
For Romeo and Juliet, Korin had been very specific about what role she wanted to play in it: namely, she wasn’t acting and she was not going to be Romeo. And yet here she was, tugged over by Kizana because her would-be Romeo couldn’t act. If holding hands normally caused her face to flush, today’s was certainly caused more by annoyance at the reason for it than because they were holding hands.
“I don’t have the whole play memorized the way you do.” Despite her comment, she picked up the script to read over the lines they were practicing. It was the balcony scene, of all scenes, and since there was no balcony yet for them to practice on, she elected to ignore that fact. After all, she’s only supposed help Taro act as Romeo; he’d have to decide how to handle the actual scene by himself. Korin read the lines over twice, before placing the script aside. Showtime.
“By love,” here, she dropped to one knee with Kizana’s hand still in hers and the other over her own heart, “that did first prompt me to inquire.” Beseechingly, Korin stared up at Kizana’s — no, Juliet’s — face. For Romeo was indeed reckless and earnest and, she’d always thought, a little desperate in his love. “He lent me counsel and I lent him eyes. I am no pilot.”
Her hand left her heart to sweep across the air between them as she continued. “Yet, wert thou as far as that vast shore washed with the farthest sea, I would adventure for such merchandise.” On merchandise, she brought her hand to Kizana’s already captive one and, with what she hoped would come off as Romeo’s fervent desire, Korin kissed the back of Kizana’s hand. Lingering just a moment too long, as Romeo in his desperation and attempt to be suave surely would.
Or in this case really until Kizana decided if she was going to continue the scene or had had enough of it.
