“ Eh, don’t mention it.”
His eyes finally turned to her and that’s when he realized – isn’t this chick a friend of Seiko’s? Or, wait, her cousin, right? Yoshiki narrows his eyes for a moment as he ponders. He has definitely seen her around before.
“ Yeah, I’m Kishinuma; you’re Shinohara’s cousin, right? ” he asks, repositioning the umbrella to mostly cover her – his shoulder getting wet in the process ( can’t stand too close! ) “ Something tells me that a girl like you usually carries an umbrella – forgot today? ”
She kept on smiling and nodding. “Yeah! Seiko’s my cousin, actually had to live with her family for a bit while we were getting settled here...” She said, grinning up at him as she stood under the umbrella. “Ugh, yeah!”
“I always bring an umbrella, but I was running late; ‘it’s not gonna rain probably, right?’ So I just rush out to run to school, and look at that! Unbelievable...” Miyu said, her voice overtaken by annoyance and frustration, both at herself and mother nature.
“Oi, want to go grab a drink from the vending machine or something? On me, to say thanks!”

“ Oh yeah, I’ve seen him get all scared like that a lot! Our class rep likes to tell scary stories all the time – you’ve been to one! – and he will always start yelling like a little baby! ” Seiko’s shoulders bounce with laughter at the memories. Satoshi has always been just so funny with his reactions to things!
“ Oh, Miyu, who do you think you’re talking to! I’m the world’s best secret keeper!! No one will ever know! ” she nestles herself down onto her bed, sitting beside her cousin, “ What’s the secret then? Hmmmmm? Tell me!! How about… I’ll tell you a secret for your secret!! ”
Miyu giggled; so he was a scaredy cat, huh? That was good to know! Maybe they could watch something scary together... she shook her head though; he didn’t want him to be uncomfortable on purpose or anything, but she couldn’t pretend the thought of Satoshi-kun holding onto her for safety sounded lovely...
“Ehehe... you really mean it?” She asked, smiling. “Secret for secret? How can I resist~? Well... I ah... I think I’m in love...”
She closed her eyes for a second, her amused demeanor giving way to embarrassment. “... With... Satoshi...”
“It’s like my heart wants to beat out of my chest whenever I’m around him... Like I want him to kiss it...” She admitted, feeling the butterflies in her stomach. She had become closer to him after some incident where she was comforted by him, but neither party seemed willing to disclose what exactly had happened. “I think... I want to confess to him at the festival...”

ㅤ ㅤ The girl’s words hit Reimi like a slap. Someone could see her, talk to her — more than that, she knew that what was before her eyes was not a living person anymore. Such knowledge about the supernatural world was surprising, almost enviable. The first answer that came to mind was mediumship, knowing that it was another ghost was like a second blow. People always passed through the sky, none of them stayed long enough to talk… Until now. ❝ No, wait! You can stay, of course you can! ❞ One step forward, an arm extended towards the stranger as if trying to prevent her from turning around and walking away from the alley. The guard dog was watching her closely too, his tail wagging slightly in curiosity. Their breath caught for a moment, until they were convinced that they had not startled the stranger.
ㅤ ㅤ The slightly emotional reaction made her self-conscious, though. Silence was uncomfortable so she spoke again, more restrained this time. ❝ I’m Reimi Sugimoto, and he is Arnold. ❞ A subtle smile when saying her own name, a loving touch on the top of the dog’s head when introducing him. ❝ We rarely receive visitors here, that’s why I was surprised. Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. ❞ Then she bowed her head, returning to the original posture moments later, trying not to look like she was forcing things. ❝ Forgive me if I’m being impolite, but what happened to your old place? ❞ It wasn’t just curiosity. Depending on the answer, Reimi would have something new to worry about. Losing her place has never been a possibility until then. What if something happened to the alley? It didn’t seem bad to be honest — that place was dangerous.
The other ghost gave a little smile, despite it all. It was her first time talking to somebody else in quite a while; no need to be rude, right? “Thanks for letting me stay!” The other ghost said, looking at the dog. “Awww~!” Even with Arnold’s throat slit and blood dripping down the ghost’s neck she didn’t seem too daunted, slowly approaching. “Can I... er... c-can I pet him?” She asked, having missed petting dogs in quite some time.
“I’m Shinohara Miyu, it’s nice to meet you!” Miyu said, before frowning a bit. “Ah... they tore it down. It’s been abandoned for like ten years... decided they want to build something new over it a new condo complex. So there went my home...” She explained, sighing. “It’s probably for the best... It’s been boring, I hate to admit. I haven’t seen the living in there for a long time, except kids playing dares; I didn’t want to scare them though...”
She looked up at Reimi once more. “This place felt a bit... odd, so I was drawn to it... like, it’s almost cut off from the rest of Morioh, you know? I wanted to check it out!”

Ever since the building that Miyu had haunted ever since her suicide had been torn down, Miyu had found herself as a wandering specter. Having killed herself so many years ago there was no desire for revenge, even against those who had once tormented her; all there was left to do once her old apartment no longer existed was wander; eventually stumbling into Morioh in the summer of 1999.
She certainly didn’t expect meeting another ghost; but kin was kin, right?
“Errr... Sorry, I’ve just been wandering to find a new place to haunt. I can leave if you want, really!”

The young alchemist certainly didn’t seem to be angry or opposed to Carol’s vision of the world. The dissection of the world... the end of the world didn’t seem to phase the renegade alchemist much, if anything she seemed intrigued by the Destroyer of Miracle’s dream.
“... Including all the rotten people too, right...?”

Yoshiki was never really one to carry an umbrella when it looked like it was going to rain, but today, for some reason, he found himself packing one of those cheap, flimsy ones into his school bag before running off toward school. A good move, as during the walk he and the other students making their way to class were caught in a seemingly sudden downpour. He grabs out his umbrella and opens it, catching sight of someone without one in front of him. He debates for a moment – should he try to be all gentlemanly when no one asked him to be ? He strides forward, putting the umbrella above Miyu’s head.
“ Sure raining a ton, huh? ” he averts eye contact, “ Outta nowhere, too. ”
Aw, man...
Miyu sighed as she looked at the rain with a sigh. Miyu was the opposite, usually packing an umbrella every day, but in her hurry today forgot. Of all the rotten luck... Guess I’ll stay here until later, huh? She thought with a sigh, before stepping out just slightly into the rain. I don’t wanna be late going home though... maybe if I sprint I can be there in like, ten minutes and just take a hot bath!
But before she could, she heard the sound of rain hitting an umbrella, looking over at a taller boy. He was... from her class, yeah!
“Ugh, it suuuuuuuuucks! Like... it couldn’t do this during the school day!?” She complained with a smile, before smiling at him. “Thanks... Kishinuma, right?” She asked, smiling and trying to put on a warmer deposition. Sure, they shared the same class, but she didn’t think she knew him much beyond friends-of-friends. Seiko and Satoshi knew him, though, and that was good enough in her book.
Maybe this was an opportunity?
“Thanks... you’re saving my neck!” She said with a giggle and smile.

Seiko pauses for a moment, eyes downcast at the name. She has nothing wrong with Satoshi – quite the opposite! – but anytime his name is brought up with the same sort of dreamy voice, it’s usually by Naomi…
She shakes off the feeling as she continues to poke through her closet, picking out pieces of clothing and laying them out on the bed next to Miyu – she has a few things that she thinks would be just her style. Dresses, skirts, even a pair of shoes is laid out beside her.
“ Well, for starters, he is a huge scaredy cat, like, anytime there is a crack of thunder, he screams !! ” she cackles as she turns back to her cousin. It’s nice to see her happy, to see her smiling. Seiko can’t help but to smile too.
Miyy couldn’t help but giggle as she listened to her cousin, eyeing the clothes that were laid for her. “So... if you like, watched scary movies with him... do you think he’d like, get so scared he’d cling to you or something?”
She got red just talking about it, hiding her face for a moment! Just thinking about it made her feel all giddy...
Ever since that day with him, just thinking about that boy was enough to calm her down...
“Ehehehehe... S-Seiko-chan... can you um... m-maybe keep a secret-?”

Miyu had been doing pretty well since moving to Tokyo, honestly. She’d been doing even better since coming to Kisaragi. After leaving her old, awful life behind, she’d been able to come out of her shell and actually participate in sports again; she was even getting along with the other students in her cousin’s class now! Especially with a certain boy in the class.
“I was just curious...”
The girl was a blushing mess during her sleepover with her cousin, playing with one of her pigtails.
“Do you ahh... what do you know about him, Seiko-chan?”

i’d say of all her current verses the one where her personality is most different is her??? jjba Steel Ball Run verse, as just Shinohara
like in most JJBA verses she’s just normal Miyu with a Stand but in that verse? she’s older (probably her early 20s, i need to fully flesh this out), has had less of a support network in an era where trans awareness doesn’t even exist (SBR takes place in 1890), and is just generally a munch more cynical, sarcastic, jaded individual. even her flirting has more of a serious, sultry edge to it
she’s a woman that’s traveled across the ocean in pursuit of a new life viewing the Steel Ball Run race as her only real chance to live the life she wants and is more willing to resort to more... less than moral ways, including using her Stand, to get it. of course she’s still Miyu at heart, she’s not an evil person but she is significantly more jaded and even her usual playful personality takes a less light-hearted tone and relies on more a sarcastic, and even sensual tone

To say the least, two months into the Steel Ball Run race, things were getting ‘quite interesting’ in the United States.
It had become clear to some this was not some ordinary race... well, everyone already knew that, but not how particularly extraordinary things would be. Shinohara had left her homeland behind int he hopes that she could ‘find a new life’ here. But something had awoken in the blazing Arizona Desert. 「Ocean Blue」had awakened inside of her, and it felt like she was steadily moving ‘closer to her goal’ now.
But others were obtaining similar powers...
But this was fine. This was all more than fine.
“... Hey, I don’t bite... and it’s just us. You can come out if you want, you know.”
Shinohara looked around as she stopped her horse, trying to see if she was indeed followed, or perhaps her paranoia was acting up once again. “If you need food, I can happily share...”

asdf;kjasdf part of the reason (along with me getting back into COPA) i rebooted this girl is bc her assigned deck for YGO AUs (that works in p much any anime bc it doesn’t use extra deck summoning), U.A. recently received a massive boost
which makes me think of YGO!Miyu again
