I’ve been really slacking on training the past few months with Loki, but we worked on some basics tonight for about half an hour and she did great! We mixed up treats and toys as rewards, worked on some impulse control, come to heel position, yielding to leash pressure, and recall. LOVE this dog. She didn’t want to stop playing (she could chase around treats thrown across the house all day lol) and did great! She apparently forgot what “wait” means so we’ll be working on that! She’s also starting to figure out “settle”, which is ‘go lay down on your mat and stay until released’. Now she’s tired and passed out on the floor.

6 months ago, Loki was one of the least treat motivated dogs I'd ever met, was completely unreliable off leash, and had very little engagement. Yesterday, she did this for nearly an hour. I'm so proud of this girl it's crazy.

I just finished a group walk with the kiddos! I haven't walked them together in months, so that was interesting. Loki pulled like crazy the first half, but Bruno walked nicely and offered heel most of the way. They also did a very nice job ingnoring squirrels and dogs.

On the way back they were both walking well, until we got to the park, I was out of treats, and we had to pass close by a little dog on a retractable leash. So, they both went nuts and I just kind of had to stand there and hold them back until they settled down. Idk what it was abt this particular dog, bc they passed all the others great! But since they're together, once one starts barking they just amp each other up. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They did keep their llw and didn't react at all passing a dog in a yard like 15ft away though so. I think all the work we've done with Lokis dog reactivity is rubbing off on Bruno, when she was calm and ignoring the dogs so was he. Overall p good dogs.

Loki... progress?

I was just training with Loki, and Leo was kind of hovering nearby looking for treats too. Loki was sniffing the floor picking up the treat she dropped, and Leo ran over and tried to grab it too. Loki looked up and bared her teeth at him, then Leo walked away and she turned back. Not many people would call this progress, but I do!

Loki never really learned how to appropriately interact with other dogs, so if she made a correction to another dog, she would generally over correct. It's kind of neat seeing her calmly let Leo know that was her treat, and didn't feel like she needed to correct him for it. We still need to work a little bit with her resource guarding from other dogs, but it's nice to see that she's communicating in a civil dog manner!

Just contacted a dog trainer about hopefully getting Loki in for a few private lessons. I've researched them quite a bit, I really like their methods, and they have wonderful reviews. Wish us luck!

Our walk today

Couldn't find Loki's leash or halti, walked her in flat collar instead

Loki DRAGS me first 20 mins so that was fun

Get almost to coffee place, starts being less shitty

At coffee place is a perfect angel to con as many treats as she can

Gets offended when mom gets the treats so she actually has to work for them

Keeps offering a better heel than we've ever gotten in training with lotsa eye contact lol

I run out of the good treats but she still llw all the way home AND sits at street crossings

Able to sit and watch two dogs go by from like ~10ft away with no reaction? (With a million treats ofc)

And actually OFFERED me eye contact?

Walked by multiple dogs barking from yards with just her coming to get treats for being good

Now we're both very happy and laying on the floor together

What is this? Loki loose leash walking? On a flat collar? And making eye contact?!? Ps: she has blue ears now
