The Play Button
Digital DJs have long since been criticized for the watering down of DJing and each technical aspect that has been made easier due to technology. The criticism really doesn’t stem from the newer generation of DJs and producers, it stems from the bitterness of the veteran DJs who had to work with unsophisticated gear. The idea of being able to automatically sync tracks and phrases has been the bane of the DVS user, and even those who are competent at mixing by ear are reluctant to use it in front of their friends for fear of being labeled an autosync DJ. I can understand why the animosity exists for these DJs – but the haters really need to consider what it is that they are mad at. Sure, you can press play and you can press sync, but you can also take the art of DJing far beyond what can be done with two turntables and a mixer. DJing is not so much about mixing songs together as it is about creating new music on the fly. When you add remix decks and the option to mix up to four tracks at a time, you are no longer playing the next tune on the track. http://traktortips.com/music-radar-looks-at-the-power-of-the-play-button/
