My opinions on trans shit as of now:
A better name for gender dysphoria the disorder would be gender incongruence, but dysphoria is a symptom of that disorder.
Gender incongruence is characterized by having the brain of the opposite sex; this can be seen in MRI scans, or felt as the symptoms of having the brain's map of the body not matching reality, or instincts related to being mentally male or female.
Every case is uncomfortable and hard to bear at least sometimes, it's a disorder afterall, but has other symptoms:
- A general feeling of alienness and disconnection with physical sexual characteristics
- A feeling of naturalness when seeing one's sexual characteristics as 'right'
- A strong feeling that being a man/woman is right and natural
- Reduced feeling in gendered body parts
- Inability to feel that gendered body parts are attached to one's body without stimulation
- The urge to physically remove one's foreign gendered anatomy
- Intrusive thoughts about physically removing one's foreign gendered anatomy
- Phantom feelings for the gendered anatomy of the opposite sex
- Feeling a kinship, and urge to fit in with others of the same gender
- A feeling of disconnection between oneself and others of the same sex; a strong feeling that you're just not one of them
If someone transitions, socially (if the people they tell take it seriously), cosmetically, or (especially) medically, without gender incongruence they will start to feel the dysphoria and other symptoms of their brain's gender no longer matching their bodies or people's perception.
If you're transitioning or just experimenting, pay attention for those symptoms, and don't be afraid to change your mind and go back if you feel uncomfortable, it's alright to be wrong about yourself, and very common, especially if you're a teen.
Learn how you really feel, listen to your emotions, experiment to find what you like and don't like; don't let society, its gender roles, or people on the outside of your head (such as blogs, media, fictional characters, and friends) sway your opinion of your identity.
