Okay listen,, I will go OFF about this scene and this whole episode and how fucking important it was to me
Like, first off, Branch & Poppy were both supportive of her trying to woo someone. Second, They weren’t even like ‘change who you are’, they were just like ‘hey, a little less loud and a little less break-your-bones, okay?’ Which was like solid advice tbh
Okay, you’re probably like, whatever Max, you’re just saying things we already know, so why is this important?

I love this episode because as someone who is trans, this episode made me see myself.
What? How? Smidge is not trans is she?
You are asking very good questions that I will happily educate you on, without a worry!
1) There is no canonical proof that smidge is indeed trans, unless you take into consideration her voice, but anyone can have a low voice.
2) I say myself, a trans boy, being represented on screen in how Smidge reacted to the advice her friends gave her.
3) Let me tell you how.
So, in this episode, Branch and Poppy try to help Smidge become a bit more ‘gentle’ as to well, not hurt her potential date. Smidge though takes this a bit too far, and while you could say that’s just how trolls are (which like fair), this does not to be so with Smidge. We see her multiple times take things too far, I mean, it's like a defining point of her personality sometimes, except for one detail. Not once does she go overboard for herself, it is always because of what other trolls think/need.
Yet, here, it seems that she goes overboard for her own personal gains, well. She doesn’t, at least not in my mind. As far as Smidge can tell, she is not as feminine as Branch and Poppy think she should be---She is not passing.
And instead of just changing a few things, she goes so overboard, to the point where she changes every single thing about herself. She changes the way she talks, to sound more feminine, she changes her clothes to be overly feminine, she even changes what she likes to be feminine. No longer is she herself, instead, she is this Lady.
Which alright, you’re probably like Hey wait a second wasn’t this supposed to tell me how Smidge is trans? All you're doing is saying she is forcing herself to be female, which would be the opposite of trans, wouldn’t it?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That is where you are wrong my friends! Indeed, that may be how it seems. But often times, trans kids will go to the extremes to prove that they are the gender they are inside, not out. This is where gender dysphoria comes in.

According to the Oxford dictionary, that’s the official definition. Now, not every single trans person has body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), but every single one does have gender dysphoria (I mean, that’s kinda what being trans is lol).
Now, back to Trolls, you’re here for trolls, I’m here for trolls, not for science and shit like that.
So, Smidge is showing heavy heavy ideas of gender dysphoria during this episode. She does not believe she is as feminine as she should be and therefore, tries to correct it. This is something a lot of trans people I know have gone through, myself included.
Changing your personality to match the binary created by the society we live in so that you can pass easier in this world. So that way when people look at you, they see the gender you see; not what the doctors did at birth.
This episode shows Smidge trying not to be herself, but instead be what others would classify as a girl, even though she knows she is one, and so do her friends. She’s afraid that if she does not pass then she won’t be liked, and it will not be possible for her to get a date. This episode is so important because it shows that this is not how to express yourself, trans or not, but also because it normalizes something trans kids go through on a daily basis.
TL;DR: Smidge is trans, this episode furthers my belief in that, and you can fight me or fuck off
