THREE TRANSMASCULINE ATHLETES MADE THE PODIUM AT IRONMAN, OCEANSIDE CALIFORNIA USA !! SO COOL!!

schuyler bailar (swimmer, he/him), chella man (cyclist, they/them) and cal calamia (runner, they/he) came third place in the men's section and they ran wearing the trans agenda (aka flag, colours and/or messages on their clothing)

huge win for them as athletes and a powerful sign that trans people belong in sports!! as someone who's gotten more into sports and seeing themselves as a sporty person within the last few years it's so encouraging to see these 3 smiling after a podium placement!! literally giddy with joy on their behalf

1st March: What are your goals for this month? What's something you're looking forward to?

I know it’s the 6th but I just found this challenge. My best friend is coming to town to visit me for a week so I’m hoping to make the most out of that and go see some things in town and have fun. I also am having a bottom surgery consult in person so I need to make some decisions and be prepared for that which means I’m going to spend the next couple of therapy sessions talking about it. In terms of school, I just need to get through this quarter which means finishing all my German homework and my final and then designing a whole undergraduate course based on trauma studies. I need to be able to present on that a week from now. So those are my main goals.

day 11/25 of productivity

im inching my way to 100 days of productivity but i cant go all in or ill get overwhelmed.

cleaned and cozied up my room today so please enjoy a pic of my bed, where i spend a lot of my time as a chronically ill and fatigued person. as a chronically ill person i often feel lime my days come out of order. today i woke up, had an appointment with my psychiatrist (for top surgery!!!! this was the last hoop i had to jump through!!!!!), got my phone fixed, and bought groceries. i got home around noon and ended up sleeping for 6 hours before waking back up and spending the evening tackling the rest of my to do list, mostly cleaning because ive been too busy to.

i try to not hold myself to abled standards and have instead been focusing on working within my own limits and some days that includes a midday six hour nap. i know my fatigue is going to be worse the next week and a half because for the next six days, every day i am either going to be doing my kitchen job pr instacarting to make up for lost time from my phone being broken, and will have possibly one day off before another stretch of working.

i hope you're all taking care of yourselves, however that looks for you <3

This is the first week of the Spring Quarter at my school. I start TA-ing for the first time for a class on Music and the Holocaust.

31st March: Do you like exercising? What have you been doing lately to take care of / maintain your health?

Ok I kind of fell off the wagon for this March Challenge but I figure I’ll at least do the last day.

Let’s see, I used to like exercising but I find it hard to do now. Mostly because it’s a whole process. I don’t want to get changed and then have to shower after and have to put my shoes on or pull out my yoga mat (I know, terrible). I go for a walk every day and I stretch right before bed—child’s pose is my favorite! But point taken, I’ll try to work on it.

Working on my second grant proposal, this time for summer funding for a conference paper. I’m writing about nonbinary interpretations of music. This is a 1922 piece by Arnold Schoenberg about a person who is seen both as a man and a woman who turns into an angel. The piece is based on a Balzac novel, Seraphita. This was my third time working at this cafe, I like it so far. I always sit outside and usually get either a hot or iced vanilla latte.
