Improving data accuracy on MineWhat
The preferred installation method for customers on platforms like Magento, Shopify and WooCommerce should be via the MineWhat plugin. The data collection accuracy on this method is consistently around 95%. Here are some tips to increase data accuracy for those who aren’t on these platforms and have used a custom script installation process to install MineWhat.
Improve campaign detection efficiency:
We automatically detect UTM campaigns on your store. If you are using some other marker on your campaigns, you can define a simple rule to enable us to track it.
Navigate to the Settings tab, it is listed under the drop-down menu on the top of the page.
Click on “Domain Settings” on the left hand side of the page and then click on “Campaigns”
Click on “Add campaign detection rule”, fill in the form as required and hit save.
There are two kinds of rules you can create. One is a pattern match rule. Here’s an example, if your url is “http://www.yourstore.com/promotions/Campaign_UgadiPromotion” then the pattern would be “promotions”. The other is a URL parameter rule. Here’s an example, if your url is “http://yourstore.com/?hpbnr=hm-flash-sale-09apr” then the parameter would be “hpbnr”.
Improve add to cart detection accuracy:
There are two ways you can improve the accuracy of the “add to cart” metric.
Navigate to the settings page and click on the “Cart” tab.
Just create an “Add-to-cart detection rule” and click save.
The other method involves calling the MineWhat API. You can define an “add to cart” event according to your store’s parameters and push it to our servers through the API. Please read this for detailed instructions.
Improve purchase detection accuracy:
Follow these steps to improve the accuracy of the “purchase” metric.
Navigate to the settings page and click on the “Buy” tab.
Create an “Add buy detection rule” and click save.
You can also call the MineWhat API in the similar manner as stated earlier. By this method you can define what is a purchase event according to your store’s parameters. You’ll find detailed instructions here.
Adding a product feed
In addition to traffic and transaction data MineWhat also collects some product information like tags, brand, category, product images and so on to show insights. To do this we typically crawl the website at fixed intervals. You can control this process and also increase the accuracy of data collection by adding a product feed. If you run a flash sales store this becomes all the more important, as you can keep the data on MineWhat updated as you change the product assortment on your store.
To add a product feed to your MineWhat account,
Navigate to the settings page on your MineWhat account.
Click on the "Product Feeds" tab on the left sidebar.
The feed can be either an url or a csv with the product information. Choose the appropriate option and upload the data and you are done.
