The Clause That Turns Rumors into Deadlines
A release clause is not just a number. It is a trigger with rules, timing, and paperwork that can flip a quiet summer into a sprint. Fans see “pay the clause” and assume it is automatic. Reality is messier.
Payment structure, registration windows, taxes, and whether the player actually wants the move all decide how clean the exit really is.

Given Barca’s financial reality, I find it unlikely that we will be able to cover all of our desired positions. Even with significant departures like Ferran and Araujo, we will not be able to strengthen all of the parts of the squad fans might want. Therefore, I think we should have a clear hierarchy of need for where we decide to put money.
Starting at left center back, like many fans, I‘m cautiously optimistic about Martín’s form. I do believe that he could negate our need at that position, especially given how little has been injured these two seasons. He deserves this season as a chance to prove that he can be our starter. If he looks good I say we’re set, even if he isn’t absolutely elite I’d rather put the 50-80m a Schlotterbeck, Guehi, or Bastoni will cost to better use.
With Martín switching to center back. We are losing depth at left back. Balde is easily top 5 in the world (I’d argue only Nuno Mendes is above him but that’s just me), however, his injury record means his backup will get a significant amount of minutes. Additionally, the amount of space Balde is asked to cover is probably the most of any elite left back to the point where he’s really one of the few players who can do it. I would want to make sure our in-house players get a chance before going to the market. To that end, Jofre Torrents is highly touted from the academy and should 100% start our early Copa del Rey games. He is far more like Balde than Martin which gives me (probably delusional) hope that he can be our backup. Otherwise, Hector Fort has played well on loan at Elche, he has looked comfortable playing left back for Barca before and he has buckets of pace like Balde. That said, he isn’t anywhere near as good when it comes to 1v1 defending so he will need to improve in that regard. However, he is also someone to watch for.
As for a left winger, Rashford is about as good as we could ask for, especially for 30m. Barca has been looking at cheaper options, but Rashford guarantees production and has certain tools in his kit like his ball striking that are genuinely 99th percentile. I’m happy with him and I’m 75% sure we will sign him permanently this summer. We’ve been linked with Antonio Nusa at Liepzig. However, he will cost more, and is more of a risk for a player who is potentially elite but even lacks some of Rashford’s abilities.
Lastly, we have striker. In my opinion, this is the single most important signing for us to complete this summer. As it stands, we do not have a traditional 9 that we can reliably field and it’s hurting us on the pitch. Lewa is likely not gonna extend his contract (he would need to slash his wages significantly in line with a player who will likely barely feature). His all-around play in addition to his finishing has been essential to us and we need to sign a successor. The striker market is tough this summer and so the majority of our budget should go to securing a capable target man. We will likely need to spend ~100m which is risky for us. However, we will not be able to get the most out of this squad without an elite 9 leading the line. Kane has explicitly stated that he wants to stay at Bayern, Haaland is financially impossible, and Alvarez is too risky given his profile. I’ve been very outspoken with my preference for Porto’s Samu Aghehowa, but players like Osimhen and Guirassy are also good options to look at.
I’m curious how other ppl view our transfer needs and if you have ideas as to how we ought to approach the summer transfer window. Lmk
Personally, I would move both Giulia & Rey Fenix to Raw if the transfer window opens up next year. Fenix & Giulia need to get out of the hellhole that is Smackdown.
Our new signings this window 💙💙
Instead of doing the draft, the WWE should just do a transfer window at the beginning of the year.

(re: previous ask) I feel the same about the winter window, it seems very promising! I understand what you’re saying when it comes to departures though😩 I grew up with the club and saw sooo many great players and players I love come and go (some a lot earlier than they should have) and it doesn’t get easier.
I also don’t know how to judge the new players yet too…I’ve seen some opinions about them based on their style and what they can add to the team via the porto sub on reddit but not much else. guess we won’t know until they’ve began playing with the others and the new manager. speaking of…I don’t know what to think of him either😭 I want to be positive because I trust AVB and I know we can’t expect changes over night but I’m still nervous the turbulence in the club will make things kinda rocky for the time being.
I’m going to watch the new signings videos on Porto’s socials because that’s how I get to know everyone lol. it is wild seeing fans be so confident in Veiga tho…I was like..do they know something I don’t? also definitely not long or boring, I appreciate your perspective as well!!🐉💙
Hi again! 😁 I’m of the opinion that changing managers after giving the previous one barely half a season is unfair and not a good sign from the outside for signings who want to join a team and not just an experiment. Thankfully, Porto as a club still has the legacy to attract young talent.
I’m so scared that we’ll lose Mora and Samu too soon but it does seem like they’re bound to stay for next season. *crossing my fingers*
I do need to catch up on the first day and get to know the player videos Porto (and Arsenal too 🫣) posted. I’ve only seen snippets on Instagram but I need to sit down and watch with my full attention. Similarly, I trust AVB to lead this reform of the club but I also know he’s made mistakes in the past and well… nobody’s perfect. I’m also kind of bitter that they didn’t let Eustaquio go to the canadian national team after the FCWC despite saying they would if Porto got kicked out early 😑
Anyways, I’m going into this season delusional and proud and I hope the team can prove everyone wrong and show growth. 🤍💙🐉
