Transfer to Royal Refuge
Grahce: *At nightfall, I dematerialized to Royal Refuge to my new appointed position. I needed my paperwork signed to complete the transfer and I could begin working. My parents were none too happy when I started working for the humans as part of doing something with my life. My parents were typical glymera aristocrats, so working for humans was beneath them. I did not share my family’s beliefs or opinions and try to rebel where I could …. such as working as a social worker and helping others rather than being their debutante daughter doing a simple task of arranging flowers until I was to be mated and become the female of the household. I internally roll my eyes as I thought about a lifetime of being nothing but a “housewife” and knew I would never be that person. I wanted to be my own person.
I got up to the door and rung the bell and waited to be allowed inside. It looked that the structure had a pretty high tech security system. Interesting. It was a non-descriptive building that could easily be passed over and blended in with its surroundings. The humans would have no idea that it housed vampires.* @ArticulateHart_
Piper: [Frustration was growing with every passing minute, everywhere I looked there was more piles of paperwork growing by the second. I hated it. I wanted to help people, to be a part of making this place great but I didn’t want to be the paper pusher. My days started just before sunrise not ending until well past dusk, exhaustion didn’t even begin to explain how I felt. Muttering a small curse I reached for another file, glancing through it with a groan before signing the bottom to indicate either my approval or denial of this request. I struggled to understand how anyone wanted this as their life, how anyone actually thrived in this kind of environment and if they did I would have to question their sanity. Shaking my head I glanced at the opposite side of the room towards the clock, it was just past sundown which meant the brothers would be waking, as would the vampire of Caldwell. This meant nothing but chaos would be filling these walls, yet here I was pushing papers. I was beginning to think that it was time for a major change, for the time being I had to push that back and refocus on the paperwork before me as my annoyance rose to an all time high.]
Grahce: *I noticed a camera above head. Very tight security system I mused as waited for the camera to focus on my face to show my visage to confirm, most likely, that I was not a lesser. The slayers were very distinctive, though the new recruits were not, with pale white skin and hair as they loose pigment over the years where as in the beginning they still had their human traits. Their smell however is always distinctive, baby powder sweet. We are taught at a young age what to look out for as they continue to try to eradicate the vampire race.
I hear the click of multiple locks as what appears to be a doggen opening the door to allow me entrance.* Hello, my name is Grahce, I’m the new appointed social worker. *He bowed and led me through a foyer and asked me to wait in a sitting lounge.*
Piper: [My head lifted to the soft knock at more door alerting me to a meeting with the new social worker, which I had completely forgotten, she was settled in the waiting area. I groaned out a small breath.] Do you mind bringing her in here for me? I just have to do a little clean up so I can at least see her over this pile of papers. Thank you, Jules. [She left with a wide but weary smile leaving me to assume that most of the staff was growing wise to my hatred of paperwork and I wasn’t going to try and change their minds. It was the truth. I didn’t even know where to start the cleanup at this point, instead I just shifted every about an inch to the side satisfied once I could see through the gap. I sat back and awaited her arrival, smacking my forehead when I realized I should have probably received her paperwork weeks ago. It was more than likely buried under this mess. I shifted in my seat tempted to dig it out but this meeting needed to happen quickly, I had a few remaining hours before I had to be back at the manse.]
Grahce: *The doggen returned and asked me to follow down the hallway to an office where I knocked on the door and entered when summoned. I found a female with brunette hair and searching through a pile of papers on her desk.*
Hello, my name is Grahce, I am a transfer to Royal Refuge. *I walked over to the desk and shook hands with her, a firm grip and sat where she pointed to one of a pair of chairs where I sat. I was thinking that perhaps she was looking for my paperwork. Luckily, I had made a copy. I handed her my folder with the copies.*
I brought my paperwork for you to sign. *I waited for her response and went through my few questions I had concerning the position and hoped that perhaps she would provide the answers when she spoke.*
Piper: [This was embarrassing, I hated being disorganized in front of people, especially new employees. God damn this fucking paperwork. I blew out a breath as I pushed the hair from my face, praying my ever charming smile was in place. It was only then I saw the transfer in Grahce’s hand] Thank you for bringing this, Grahce, usually I’m much more prepared and a whole lot less consumed by all of this. [I chuckled quietly while I took the folder from her hand, casually waving them around to showcase the rest.]
So tell me Grahce, what made you decide to transfer here? [I figured I’d dive right in, I was sure she had written out the answer in this folder but it was always easier to see the truth when spoken.] Do you have any questions for me? I’ll answer anything you throw at me. Short of the winning lotto numbers. [I flashed a wink while laying the folder out before me.]
Grahce: *I listened as Piper took a moment to organize her thoughts, I was hoping to be able to assist her with all the chaos on her desk.* Actually, I needed a change … and the work you do here is important and I want to become a part of it. This is endeavor for the vampire race and one that has been sorely needed. We have the same issues and problems that the humans do and it seems we’re still in the stone age about some things. Not to sound too clichéd, but I want to make a difference, I’ve been working the overnight shifts in the human world doing the same thing. The work you do here is important.
Piper: [Smiling I blew out a small breath, she seemed for the most part to understand the reasons behind her transfer. Just like I had suspected, of course there were a few things that I needed to make clear before I approved. Mostly for security purposes.] We still treat a few humans here, any that come looking for help receive it. Within reason. I enjoyed the spark of excitement I saw when you spoke of working here, I think you’ll fit in perfectly. [Leaning back in my chair I gave up on tidying and just looked Grahce over, taking in everything I could without being a creep.] Making a difference is something we all strive to do here, we need more people like you around here too. I suspect you will be working the same shifts, unless you’d like something else. Social work is important, these children and their mothers need someone to rely on. Someone they can come to when they have questions.
So before I make this official and send you off to security to have your badges made, do you have any other questions?
Grahce: *Nodding my understand as Piper spoke, I realize I didn’t have any questions. I was just happy to have a place to get away from my parents but not just that … this job was something I could call my own. Something that wasn’t gained by who you know or who your parents were. It was based on merit … my own doing and no one else's.* Nope, no question here. I’m ready to get started. Just point the way and I can start getting ready. Do you have anything you would like me to start with? *I wanted to get a routine started so I could start making my own money and move out of my parent’s home and away from the the life of the glymera.*
Piper: You don’t even know how thankful I am that you’re eager and ready to get ‘er done. I have a few families that have arrived in the last few days, why don’t you go check in and let them know who you are and what your job is. I’m sure you know that drill. [Shaking my head with a laugh, I really hated moments like this. I was so not a direction giver as of late. I scooped up the files on the families then handed them over along with the services we offered here.] Everything you need to know will be in these and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask them. If I’m not here, any one else will be happy to do so as well. [I grinned as my shoulders relaxed a little.] Welcome to the family, Grahce. [I added one more package into her eager hands, security.] Head off to security first and get your badge, then you can get through majority of the doors you’ll need.
Grahce: *I took the files from Piper and held them in my arms as she gave her last few instructions to get to security.* I’m happy to get started, thank you again for accepting my transfer. I’ll assure you, I will help wherever I can, just let me know what you need. *I wanted to keep busy to avoid having any downtime to spend with my family plus listening to other’s problems helped me avoid my own. I smiled and made my way out of her office and towards security. Change is good.*
