This month I went to Kanchanpur with Chinimaya. Chinimaya taught about the human trafficking problem using the Tamang language, and I taught about income generation. I also had given them an idea about handcrafts a few months back, and I was very excited to see their commitment and work.
*JT Village, Nepal Last month I taught Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons focusing on hygiene, diarrhea, and dysentery that have helped the children be careful about drinking water and their personal sanitation.
As I reported earlier, this school was established about 65 years ago and there were no good toilets and wash basins. Now they have installed child-friendly toilets. This is a positive change.

Overall, the community is taking ownership in community development projects following TCD principles. Their active participation, attitude, self-reliant development process, and having a big vision for the wellbeing of the community has led us to be a perfect TCD model village within a couple years. Refugees in Lebanon We were happy to complete the second year of serving refugee women and children in Lebanon. This month, a week-long conference took place with attendance of more than 120 Syrian women and children. GHNI is effective in running Transformational Community Development (TCD) and many other programs, and during this conference we celebrated the second year of the TCD program.
Ola Nagele Village, Kenya Although transformation is a continuous process, GHNI has done its best within the past five years to pursue its dream of reaching the poor, hidden and hurting, as well as restoring hope to the hopeless in this village. Wellness as one of the five areas of Transformational Community Development (TCD) has been so valuable and practical since the lives of some poor, illiterate villagers were saved through the lesson taught by Martin, their TCD trainer.
We couldn’t believe our eyes when we reached their home. Mama Karu was almost dying of hunger because all of her legs were infested with jiggers. GHNI effectively took action through Martin. After examining the situation, Martin rushed to the nearest hospital and purchased the necessary medical kits.
Vocational Training Program, Jordan Meet Abu Mohammad, a Syrian man from Daraa and father of five sons and four daughters. This family came to Dafyaneh four years ago. Abu Mohammad is a farmer. He had to have back surgery, and because of that, he’s not able to work and provide for his family. Three of his sons are working to provide for their family.

Kharibari, India We are striving to bring together all the villagers and continued to work on this throughout the summer. I visited villages nearly six times, and two times the meeting had to be called off due to very low turnout. When I was able to meet with them personally and told them about the TCD plan, they all seemed to be in agreement, but stayed away from the community meeting.
The women were not willing to wait anymore for all the men to turn up, so they insisted that I form a committee with the present members. I decided to form a committee with those who are genuinely interested and started working. I believe if things get going, soon others will follow.
Dhoker Jhara Village, India
In Dhoker Jhara Village, we continue to work on a project to free the community from the money lenders. All the villagers in this area have been suffering for a long under the money lenders.
