Boom. Probably the best way to begin an arts & museum summit that seeks to talk about cultivating arts communities, yet is priced so high, and is therefore so exclusive, that few artists, community art activists, and collectives are even present: have #JackPersekian talk about opening up cultural institutions to the public and to artists, and have #RhanaDavenport in her response talk about making museums vulnerable, allowing people to speak, using the space for artist projects that would otherwise not see the light of day in these institutions, reminding that “the museum is a safe space for unsafe ideas.” Today, only these two had unsafe ideas within the safety of Arete, practically addressing the elephant in the room probably without even knowing it. If only for that, it was a good day. #ArtsAndMuseumSummit #Transfuze #AsianArt #ArtsPH (at Megatrade Hall)
