Greyhound Adventures
The last time I took the greyhound to a con, I told the employee I wanted the 8 am to Baltimore & he told me it wasn't there yet, and when I asked again a few minutes later, I was told it had departed & he thought I had said Philadelphia. 😐😩😭😢😒😡 Today I'm actually going to Philadelphia 😂 I arrived a full 45 minutes early and asked THREE employees to make sure I was not screwed out of my scheduled departure time. I waited in full view of the buses and was escorted to my bus by an employee. Its very cold today and I have zero use of my right leg & my left leg and back are in very bad shape. Right arm is no good as well. I'm having a rough time of it to say the least. Pain level is off the scale & I can't medicate atm because the drugs make it impossible for me to operate my mobility scooter. Employees load up my bags, help me fold & secure my mobility device, one even carries my coffee & places it on the dash, and makes sure the front row is free for me. Its not a full bus. I struggle to pull myself up the steps and into my seat. I begin unfurling the power cords so I can charge my scooter battery so that it will be full when I get off the bus. The couple seated behind me that has been staring at and muttering about me this whole time stand and as the woman passes me the man says that she is going to hand me my coffee. 😐 I object as I have my hands full and haven't asked for any help. They get annoyed and I explain that I need to plug in my battery and get settled and I only have 2 hands, but I can reach it & will get my coffee when I'm ready to & that she can sit down, its fine 😂 He tells me that he too has pain & difficulty walking & of course I say that I'm sorry to hear that but internally I'm saying that if you are disabled why do you not ask if someone needs help before helping and why on earth do you get upset if the unsolicited help is declined??? 😂😂😂 I wish that this was the end of it but sadly it is not. About 15 seconds before the bus departed, the driver informed me that the seat beside me had been requested by an elderly person. I said ok no problem and began rearranging my bags. One of them is fairly large and would be better suited in the overhead. I saw the elderly lady in question hovering over me & said apologetically, 'sorry for the wait, if I had known you wanted to sit here 5 minutes ago, I would have moved everything already.' She had been sitting a few rows back before. The bus had begun moving and I struggled to put weight on my legs and stuff the bag into the overhead bin. The combination of intense pain and the sharp movements of the bus made this a very difficult task. The couple behind me offered to stuff my bag beneath their seat but after seeing spilled drinks ruin many a bag I don't put things on bus floors anymore so I said no thank you. Of course they took further offense at this polite refusal and got even angrier. The elderly woman got tired of waiting and told the driver she was going back to her seat. The driver said 'You can't give her a minute to move her bag? Well if you throw up back there YOU are responsible for cleaning it up' and that's when everyone found out that she wanted to sit in the front because of motion sickness 😮 😷 Amazingly a seat in the third row became available in an instant 😂 I was quietly relieved that she did not sit next to me. 😶 The bus ride continues without incident...for now
