After leaving Gion Shinto Shrine, we explored the Geisha district and surrounding areas of downtown Kyoto, taking in beautiful vistas along the way. This was a truly memorable experience, and I recommend it to anyone traveling to Japan. Although we only saw one Geisha, the calm and relaxing ambiance of the ancient city of Kyoto is most easily felt in this particular region of the city.
