Automated road system
In my limited life experience the one thing that takes for ever is driving in rush hour, and what seems to make traffic worse for everyone is the asshole that goes 100 and his compatriots that follow. Then when they hit a slow spot, they have to slam on their brakes causing a domino effect of braking behind them. This in turn takes even longer to start moving again for the person in the back who was minding his own business and not speeding.
What we need are RFID tags implanted an inch or so under the road every 100 feet in the middle of lanes that dictate what speed you should be going, and your car has a powerful RFID reader that can read in a 15 foot diameter.
Sure they can modify their car and remove it, but then you can make speeding fines that much worse, and if a car is found without a reader functioning, even bigger ticket, but it would be federal.
No more speeding, no more traffic!
