Are Charms purely decorative or do they have a martial/magical purpose?

Charms are spells that have been cast earlier, and thus can be used without preparation. Casting a spell at the best of times can take at minimum ten minutes, so having a suite of spells prepared and ready to be unleashed is standard practice for elves.

This particular elf has a selection of defensive charms

Would you mind transcribing the text for the Girl Talk comic? I couldn't make out some of the stuff in the third panel. Also, do coloured Dragon Horns mean anything?

Sure thing! Also, colored horns just means that her horns are colored. Being highly magical creatures like elves, dragons have a high amount of variation in the species, unlike humans.

Gwen: Oh! Alyszithira! What brings you to my court, darling?

Alys: Uh, yeah, Hi... Look, uh, Gwenthasluzit, you know about boys, right?

Gwen: I would hope so! Oh ho ho ho

PANEL 2

Alys: So, uh, um... How do you get them to know... um, uh, that you... uh... Want them? (aside: I brought gold as payment)

PANEL 3

Gwen: Oh sweet, sweet, naive Alys... Just bare your teeth, (but not too much) spread your natharan (But not fan them) curl your tail, and just show a touch of breath.

Gwen: Oh! And if he has a rival, just mention that you’ve heard of them. Gets them allll fired up!

PANEL 4

Gwen:Oh, also... Just do this to them. Drakes just Love this <3

Alys: Uh I... The boys might find this a bit threatening?

Gwen: Then you need to find some better boys, hun.

Is he really a prince if his indiscretions don't threaten to collapse the fragile peace between nations? I think not. As an aside, do Elf horn decorations mean anything?

Well, to be fair, his hedonistic indiscretions are threatening the fragile Vassal/Lord dynamic under the Tyranny of Dragons, so arguably that’s worse (And Thus, more Princely). And, besides that, he’s actually quite adept as policy, domestic statecraft and skill at arms and spell, so he’s got good qualities. Good qualities that are of course easy to leverage into convincing an impressionable drakine into something... unwise.

And the horn decorations mean things, but I have not figured out exactly what. At the very least, the cross ribbons denote nobility/royalty.

I was running through the magicstone tag when I found your drawing of Gladstone and Magica and it is superb. I love the expressions; I could feel the weight of Gladstone leaning in; the outfits were great, especially the red inner lining of Magica's dress (it gave it just a little bit of oomph!). I wanted to know if the "We don't talk about Matilda." line came from somewhere or if it was something you made up? The thought of Gladstone being protective of his aunt/adoptive mom is fantastic.

Thanks so much, that’s so nice of you to say! <3 I had a ton of fun with the expressions and designing her dress so it looked modern but also recognizably “MAGICA~” about gave me conniptions, it’s really nice to hear someone liked it. I also almost never get asks on here so I was extra-delighted to get an actual COMMENT on something, lol, so thanks for that happy little thrill too. 

And protective Gladstone is an awesome idea, I agree, but actually, in this case it’s a different Matilda! In one of the comics, Magica disguises herself as an “ordinary girl” to flirt up Gladstone and get closer to Scrooge/the dime. She goes by “Matilda” in said disguise, and it goes . . . about as well as can be expected? I used a @modmad design for that Gladstone, and @modmad uses “we don’t talk about Matilda!” as a recurring callback/joke in a lot of their own comics and it’s one of my favorite lines. 

Here’s a link to the original comic, if you’re interested! I really like the art in it and the story’s very sweet, it’s definitely worth a read. Plus Magica’s hair is A+ the whole time, I LOVE it. Also if you’ve somehow missed @modmad’s comics you should absolutely check those out too because they are GIFTS. I’m assuming you’ve seen them since you were in the Magicstone tag, they’re just a BIT influential over there, but just in case.

Is Lucky Green Elf the menthol cigarette equivalent in your world? If there Lucky Red Elf? Blue Elf? If you smoke Lucky Elf tobacco in the wrong part of town will people insult you and tell you to smoke a man's tabacco?

It’s just a normal cigarette, but the rest of that is there. There are three big brands in the city, and numerous small ones that are imported from other cities.

Our man here like them because they have a smooth flavor, are economically priced, and he found the racist elf caricature funny

Do young dragons often have to hurt or kill each other as mercenaries? Is there some sort of protocol for meeting a dragon on the battlefield wearing the banner of an enemy house?

There is a reason that out of clutches of 5-6 only 1-2 dragons survives to adulthood.

Generally speaking, a dragon isn’t supposed to go out of their way to kill another drake, but if they get in the way or your orders, well... The appropriate response is to kill the fuck out of them, make certain everyone saw it/knows, and then eat their heart.
