I still couldn’t find the plot
Alright so after watching episode 58 I realised something. Shun is using spell cards. Not Speed Spells. Just his regular spell cards. I don’t know how I missed that in the riding duel between Yuugo and Security but they don’t even have Speed Counters, which explains why Shun can just use his normal cards instead of having to use Speed Spells which rely on a certain number of Speed Counters to be activated.
Basically the way Riding Duels used to work in 5D’s don’t work the same way in Arc-V and I don’t know… I’m a bit disappointed, to be honest. What even is the point of Speed World Neo if it literally doesn’t have any effects other than “This card cannot be destroyed.”? Where’s the added thrill and tension of waiting for the right amount of Speed Counters so you can finally activate a certain Speed Spell? Where’s the fear of your opponent having four or more Speed Counters while you’re Life Points are 800 or below so them drawing a Speed Spell would mean you lose the duel? You know, all the things that made a Riding Duel actually different from a normal one?
It’s not like I don’t enjoy the Riding Duels in Arc-V (the ones we’ve seen so far, anyway) because I do. It just would be more action-filled if Speed World Neo had some actual effects to benefit the duel instead of just preventing the duellists from activating an actual Field Spell, you know?
