Just a stray thoughts but how I feel when writing Shinichi's pov vs Kaito's pov (personal preferences and character interpretation caveat):

I see Shinichi as a very internalised character like you get so much from being in his head and having him brainworm and ruminate on a topic. Then there's also his curiosity and detective instincts which makes it so easy to drop a nugget of info in front of him and have him go full on investigation mode. Also easy to map on a flavour of emotional repression like "logically its like this so no need for me to have such illogical emotions about it." Pffft then also how he can twist his internal logic to justify doing something reckless and batshit insane is actually the most logical and efficient course of action

In contrast, Kaito is a lying liar who lies -- to others, to the audience and especially to himself. Like the poker face exists even in his internal monologues -- focusing more on maintaining whatever illusion is going on rather than dissecting and self reflecting. Like while action wise he seems the more spontaneous one, he's much more calculated and controlled when it comes to his personas. Its what makes him so fun from an outsider pov but makes you want to strangle him when you're in his head. If you want any sort of honesty from him, you need to break him in some way from an external force -- get the boyo off balance and force him to confront the things he glazes over with his poker face.

i am absolutely fucking deranged about how crowley so clearly replaced the word “couple” with “a group of the two of us” then followed it up with “and we’ve spent our existence pretending that we aren’t.” how you can see azi understands perfectly welll what he means and gets this panicky look in his eyes for it . they spent their existence pretending they weren’t a couple. i need a lie down

I'm already thinking about her dynamic with Rosie, they also check the childhood friends mark and- ;;;;;;;; I imagine her as super cute and clumsy, shorter than Rosie.

Ok so I'm Hella bored and feel like lore dumping so y'all can probably torture Cole with angst questions. Have fun :]

Ok! So. Cole's parents within this timeline were good parents. Perfect even. Until Lilly got sick. Lou couldn't bear looking at his own son after that because, before Cole met the ninja, his long hair looked too similar. He acted too much like her. Lou felt like it was absolute torture for him. So, he attempted to send Cole to a boarding school. Emphasized on ATTEMPTED. Cole saw the contract and left. Lou didn't get the chance to send him.

This is where this Cole's lore really technically starts. You see, Cole is a run away. Has been since the beginning of highschool. Every missing poster he sees he tears down before his friends can see. Given that his dad is technically rich, he changed his appearance. He got beefier, cut his hair, wears baggier clothes. The others have always known Cole to be laid back, but its how he acts to avoid recognition. The Cole that Lou knows is named Jade. A young graceful woman who wore flowy dresses. THATS RIGHT! TRANS COLE BLOG. But the others dont know :>

Cole has been managing to hide being Trans by not talking often. He started T back in the end of sophomore, beginning of Junior year. Being a ninja comes with money perks so it got easier to hide as he paid for his shots. Before his top surgery Cole had a tendency to tape his chest. Its why he didnt do a lot of physical fighting and mainly stayed in his mech. By the end of a mission he was known for dismissing himself to shower and heading to bed (hence why he's often characterized as a chill and sleepy individual.)

Cole got top surgery by the end of Junior year, but because of the scars needing to heal he avoided training a LOT. Most times he'd avoid physical combat by moving behind Kai or Zane, hoping to avoid getting punched in the chest or shoulder because those areas hurt him the most.

Theoretically Nya or Jay would be the first to figure out his little secret. Nya would probably figure it out by a slip up. Cole joins her on a clothing spree because she needs something to wear for her and Jay's date, and Cole is giving surprisingly good advice. She jokingly asks how Cole knows what looks good and Cole, being the idiot that he is, says he knows from experience. Nya's smart so she thinks of two possibilities and two possibilities only- either 1. Cole is really lady like, or 2. He was a lady. Given the fact that Cole hasn't had a girlfriend since they met and he isnt likely to wear feminine clothing, Nya goes with the second option.

Jay would most likely find out because he would snoop in Cole's stuff and find an old photo. Cole keeps old photos on his night stand to keep the memory of his mother alive but there's one in particular that just doesn't sit right. The side of it is clearly folded in, and Jay gets curious and unfolds it. At first he thinks "oh! Does cole have a sister we dont know about?" And sticks with the idea. Later on Jay asks Cole how his sister is doing and Cole is confused because- he doesn't have a sister? He asks Jay where the idea of him having a sister came from and Jay panics. He makes up some kind of stupid excuse but Cole reads his friend well and basically says "you went snooping in my stuff again. Didn't you." And Jay admits to it. In all honesty Jay would probably just be looking for headphones or smth and ends up finding the photo, I dont see him to be a snooper- anyway. Jay asks who the girl in the photo was and eventually begins teasing cole about having a "childhood sweetheart" and Cole, being disturbed and honestly just done with the bantering, fesses that the girl in the photo was him. It doesn't take long for Jay to put the pieces together because he isnt dumb, he just has adhd, and he apologizes almost immediately. Cole tells him to shut up and that its find because he planned on telling them eventually anyway.

Zane would find out in a bit more of a serious situation. Cole would get hurt in battle, most likely breaking a rib, and Zane scans him to assess the damage after the fight is over. He finds Cole's top surgery scars but doesn't understand that they are top surgery scars and thinks Cole had gotten a serious injury he didnt tell him about. Zane was about to call Nya to call an ambulance but Cole shuts him up real quick and pulls him down. In a panicked frenzy because his chest still hurts because of that broken rib, Cole tells Zane that they were surgery scars. Zane asks if he had any medical issues and Cole stats that they arent medical surgery scars, but rather personal identity surgery scars. This is when it clicks for the ice master and he continues treating the rib.

Idk how Kai or Lloyd would find out so y'all can give me ideas on that-

Anyway expect more rambles bc I'm bored often and enjoy seeing my favorite characters suffer- sooo- :]
