Nelson Molina has a 6th sense -- for finding treasure among trash, literally. Since 1981 this New York City Sanitation employee has amassed over 40,000 pieces of mungo/mongo (slang for items pulled from the trash) and lovingly repaired and restored them. The incredible collection includes everything from furbies, to Buddha statues, to photo albums, and provides an intimate look into NYC culture through artifacts. Housed in the city’s M11 garage in East Harlem, the “Treasure in the Trash Museum” is open by appointment only. 🗑✨ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #precious #onemanstrashisanothermanstreasure #nycsanitation #treasureinthetrash #mungo #mongo #nychistory #artifact (at DSNY Manhattan 11) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bot8FtQHm0w/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1shj7neskehvn
