Anarcha Westcott was a young Black girl enslaved in Alabama. After a traumatic childbirth, she developed vaginal and rectal fistulas, a condition that left her in constant pain and shame.
Instead of receiving care, she was experimented on over 30 times by Dr. J. Marion Sims, who operated on her without anesthesia. He used her body to develop a surgery that would later be used to treat white women, with pain relief, dignity, and consent.
Anarcha didn’t agree to any of it. She wasn’t a patient. She was a victim of medical violence.
Today, she is finally being remembered, not as a statistic, but as one of the true Mothers of Modern Gynecology, alongside Lucy and Betsey.
hey guys this is an urgent campaign to get a little boy surgery and therapy to save his life. the goal is super achievable, just 250 usd. i’ve seen people raise more in minutes so i know we can do this. the linked tweet is from a gazan woman who evacuated last year, so i trust her.
Eileen, our little girl, is battling thalassemia — a serious disease that requires lifelong treatment and regular blood transfusions.💔😞
But in the midst of a devastating famine, severe medicine shortages, and a collapse of medical supplies, her life now hangs by a thread.Every day without treatment puts her in grave danger.😓🙏Eileen is not asking for much… only the right to stay alive.
🌿 Your donation today could be the reason she survives — providing her with the medicine and medical tests she desperately needs.🥺💔🙏
Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a huge difference.

My name is Shatha, a mother of three children from Gaza 🍉🇵🇸, living through extremely harsh conditions. We have been displaced over 15 times, searching for safety, but to no avail. I have two daughters, Toleen (6 years) and Layan (2 years), and my young son Walid (3 years), who was born with a disability and is unable to walk. Walid used to receive regular physical therapy before the war, but now his condition has worsened due to the current crisis.

Today, we are enduring severe humanitarian conditions, lacking access to food, clean water, and medicine💔. My children need basic essentials like milk, diapers, and clean clothes💔.
My husband also lost his job and source of income in the war, and his workplace was destroyed. He worked in the academic field at the university. 💔💔
Walid suffered severe burns to his head during the war😓, and also many kidney diseases, and my little girl Layan was infected with hepatitis😓💔 due to malnutrition and polluted water.💔
I have launched a support campaign for my children to provide for these basic needs, especially for Walid, who urgently needs to continue his treatment and receive the necessary medical supplies. So far, donations have been few, and I am hoping you can help us by donating and sharing the campaign. Any help, no matter how small, will make a big difference in my children’s lives. 🥺🙏🙏🙏
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.❤️❤️
