My poor tree has lights only 3/4s of the way up. We had what we thought was a bad string of lights as none of the greens were working. Turns out, it was too many bad bulbs. We discovered this when we started pilfering lights from the "bad" string to replace burnt out ones in the other 4 strands and we ended up with a pile of 25 dead green bulbs. For an unknown reason, we have a ziploc bag full of yellow lights and when we slotted the yellows into the "bad string" they all work. But since we pilfered that string for red, blue and green, it is now mostly yellow and would look weird since the strings were only ever red, green and blue to begin with so there are few yellow bulbs on the tree on the bottom 3/4s. It's an easy fix but not until tomorrow morning when we can get out and get more lights.
Note to self: for birthday next year, a new-prelit (colored lights) tree.
