i'm watching re:zero with my dad, we're currently halfway through season 2, here are some very normal things he thinks about the show
1: he does not know rem's name and keep calling her ren. he does however know ram's name
2: puck is his favorite character. he misses puck
3: he is convinced the witch of envy was isekai'd too. my reminding him that she's a half elf has not convinced him otherwise
4: "awww look there's cute bunnies in the intro!" literally one episode before the Rabbit Incident™️
5: fully convinced julius hates subaru
6: thinks mimi could solo the white whale if she wanted to (because she's super cute)
7: did not like petelgeuse, does not believe me when i say i'm very ill about him
8: both my parents were genuinely convinced re:zero was a comedy show (despite my descriptions of some of the deaths). they have since learned otherwise
9: convinced subaru is secretly the sin archbishop of pride
edit: update 1!
10: he doesn't understand roswaal: "so when he wears the makeup he's all loopy and weird but when he doesn't he's an evil supervillain???? what????"
11: for some unknown reason re:zero makes him sleepy. this is not because he's bored, he's enjoying it but every single time we watch he falls asleep without fail. we think it's because of the music
12: the garfiel jokes have begun. "he's an orange cat named garfield! how am i supposed to say anything else!"
this list will be updated with whatever shit he comes up with as we continue watching. i find this very entertaining
i worked with two cis men today and they spent a solid amount of time talking about cars and. one of them mentioned his subaru and it activated me like a sleeper agent holy shit. natsuki subaru mentioned
i was showing my mcyt-enjoying friend a piece of angel skizz fanart and. their non-mcyt-enjoying boyfriend kept saying he was castiel. i have never been sadder
is it transgender to not give a shit that one of the pharmacists at work thinks i have a more masc name than i do
had caffeine for the first time. is this what adderall feels like
tree gets existential under the cut lol
since it's been so nice out where i live lately i decided to take a very long walk across town through the woods, and a lot of it definitely stuck out to me, but one part in particular probably won't leave my mind for quite a while.
i live in one of the most forested states in the country, and although i live in the largest city, there's still so much nature around me all the time. i'm lucky enough to be able to walk to my full time job through the woods and still be able to see one of the country's biggest lakes
i used to bike down this route every day to get to school back when i was a sophomore and the pandemic made me too paranoid to use the bus, and my favorite section has always been this part where an old bridge crosses over the path. there's something between a cliff and a bunch of rocks to both sides of the path, and for years they've been covered in graffiti. i've always loved to see the graffiti- people would have conversations with each other through their spray paint, they'd declare their love for people i'll never meet, sometimes they'd write poetry or just write their names, but there's always been a thick layer of graffiti that never quite went away when the city would inevitably paint over it.
a few years ago the city stopped painting over it and made a mural instead. it's made of recycled plastic and features a poem by a local poet about how we are a product of all who've come before us and all who'll come after, and there's a lot less graffiti than before.
and right above the mural
a handprint.
when i saw it i almost cried.
above this art piece about people, someone did the same thing people have been doing for fucking millennia. i wonder who did it. i wonder if they were thinking about everyone who did the exact same thing before them, everyone who's tried to leave their mark on the world in the exact same way, whose names and faces, whose personalities and families have been forgotten, but who we know existed because they left a handprint on a blank surface.
i saw and thought about a lot of things while i was walking, and i'm sure i'll do the same when i walk back home, but this handprint probably isn't going to leave my mind for a long time. it's poetry in and of itself, someone who left a remnant of how they're human right above a mural about what it means to be human
it kind of has made me realize that there truly are no unique experiences, and that that's the beauty of being alive. you're never alone, every experience you have has been done by someone else before you. there's been so many of us on this planet that it's inevitable. even people who do have truly unique experiences, the artemis ii crew being the first who come to mind, nine times out of ten someone's going to be along with you, doing the exact same thing, and someone will inevitably do it again in the future. it's just like. man. being a person is great. even if the world sucks, we always have each other. humans find community in the worst circumstances, even in small ways like leaving a handprint
unfortunate i got hot after the guy i'm crushing on moved across the country. now i'm hot af and there's no one i want to appreciate it
