Mugshot Monday - “Tremblay’s Sweet Shop” mug with Guatemalan Light Roast by Peace Coffee
If I had told you I was at Tremblay’s Sweet Shop last weekend, I would have thought I had been up north in Hayward, Wisconsin. I’ve been going to that awesome candy store ever since I was a kid.
However, last weekend my 9-year-old and I were in Stillwater, MN and I told him we’d find a candy store in town. I totally forgot about the Tremblay’s there so it was a surprise for me when I saw it. And when we walked in, it we both had the same nostalgic experience as the store in Hayward.
The Stillwater location is a smaller version of the Hayward store, but they still make the fudge, the chocolate truffles, the almond bark, etc right in the store on huge marble slabs. And then they have piles of wrapped candy EVERYWHERE to load into your little wicker basket – you pick the kinds you want and pay for it all by the pound. That’s what the 9YO was after.
I picked out one of their ginormous nut rolls. Which is different for me because I always get the almond bark. I should have gotten BOTH is what I lamented later. So good!
So, I’m not sure if I’m responsible for Tremblay’s selling these fine coffee mugs now, but I do know about 2 years ago I humbly requested they make a mug.
I asked at the Hayward store if they had coffee mugs and a woman working there replied they didn’t but looked at me like she had a lightbulb over her head. She told me it was an awesome idea and even wrote it down. I said I’d love a mug with the illustration from their bags – that guy with the old timey hat stirring the big kettle of fudge. And here it is!
Thank you Tremblay’s for making the awesome sweets and for making this lovely mug. And thanks to my mother-in-law Sandy for giving me the mug for Christmas! I have so many good memories from this candy store.
