A few days ago I finally found one of the most decorative winter guests from the north: the smew. It is quite shy and likes to stay on inland lakes in a way that causes problems for the photographer: in the centre of the lake or in inaccessible shore areas. This was also the case here - luckily a male came a little closer so that I was able to take a few pictures through the undergrowth.
