How does Ellinor handle losing an arm?
well, anon, this will be addressed in my forthcoming trespasser fic!! 😉
but, to give you an answer now, not well. i headcanon that although solas removes the mark, she still has the “dead” arm. by the time cassandra et al. bring ellinor back through the eluvian, she’s overcome by her injuries, losing blood, and in critical condition. cullen makes the call to have her arm amputated. it’s really the only way to save her.
i’m not sure how much of the ensuing depression ellinor experiences is a direct result of losing her arm so much as it is a result of the combination of so many things—losing her arm, feeling like a failure for what she knows solas plans to do, slowly losing (close contact with) her friends as they part ways to pursue their own post-inquisition lives, the end to a cause and sense of purpose she’s served for the past few years, and the uncertainty of what’s to come. i think she blames her depression on the loss of her arm. it’s a tangible, physical reason for her to point to when she’s drowning in feelings she can’t control and doesn’t know how to cope with. it takes a lot for her to learn how to live without it.
i will say, i see a lot of stories approach the inquisitor losing their arm with the inquisitor having the attitude that they’re somehow ugly or unlovable without it. that is not the approach that ellinor will have and not an approach i would want to take in her story. i think her loss stems more from a functional point of view, a symbolic end to something she’s always had, and as i mentioned before, a loss that coincides with a lot of other challenges she’s dealing with simultaneously.

Rating: G Relationships: Inquisitor & Cassandra, Inquisitor/Sera Summary: that one trespasser conversation with cassandra, but with a few adjustments. i.e. how to stress out cassandra
It was late morning when Val went to find Cassandra in the overlook where she'd taken to... well, hiding, to put it ungraciously. A quiet, peaceful corner as far from the hubbub as possible. Though when Val spotted Cassandra at the far end of the walkway, peaceful was not a word they would have used: She was pacing back and forth, hands making aborted motions in time with the silent movement of her lips.
"Cassandra," Val called, and Cassandra's head snapped up, her expression turning from agitation to a wide-eyed look that Val had previously seen on small rabbits.
"Inquisitor!"
"Cassandra," Val replied, a vaguely bemused smile creeping onto her lips. "Everything all right?"

Did someone share or rec this one lately? It’s been getting likes over the past couple days again and I both love that and wonder how it’s happening... And yes I do love Trespasser, especially with a clingy Inquisitor in a Dorian romance...
