I'm still trying to process this one, but I think it's safe to say that the dancer moved at exactly the right moment for me. We were shooting in a studio with a blank wall, and I was experimenting with some unusual lighting setups. I had the model move towards the light source, which cast an interesting shadow on the wall behind her. As she danced, her arm extended and hand brushed against her hip, I snapped this shot from my extremely low angle, using a wide-angle lens to emphasize the drama of the movement. The high contrast between the bright light and deep shadows created a stark, cinematic feel that I'm really happy with. What struck me about this moment was the model's complete focus on their body language – it was as if they were lost in the motion itself, rather than posing for the camera. That sense of abandonment to the movement is something I've been trying to capture in my work lately, and I think this image comes close to getting it right. The film grain adds a bit of texture to the image, but it's also a reminder that even with careful planning, there's always an element of chance involved in photography. Sometimes it's not about capturing perfection – it's about freezing a moment in time when everything feels just right.
