Osborne Montague, the former Head of the Montague family, was convicted after a 2 week trial for the murder of Rosemund Reed. Known as the “English Rose”, the 28 year old submissive captured the attention of the world with her tragic end at the hands of the 45 year old Dominant. Despite the best efforts of the Prosecutor Rossano Troisi, premediated murder was not sufficiently established. However, Osborne Montague was convicted of a lesser charge of second degree murder, removing any possiblity of a lifetime sentence.
At the sentencing hearing held today at Verona Courthouse, friends and family of Rosemund Reed gathered. Before the Court, jury and Osborne Montague, they read prepared statements lamenting the loss of the beautiful and adventurous young woman, who had much to give to this world and had all the possibility for a future cut short by Montague’s actions. Others cursed at the Dominant. One such incident led to Justice Norman Capulet removing the disruptive individual from the courtroom. Due to the nature of the crime, the Court has banned the publication of all names of those who read such prepared statements.
The grandmother of the victim spoke to media on the Courthouse steps, “My granddaughter was the light of my life. I honestly do not know how I will carry on without her. She wanted nothing more than to see the beauty in the world and in the end, only saw the very worst.” (translated) After her statement, the elder Ms. Reed collapsed and was taken to Verona Hospital, where she will remain until well enough to return to England.
At the conclusion of the statements from friends and family, Justice Capulet sentenced Osborne Montage to ten years in the Verona Penitentiary with no possibility of early parole. Osborne Montague remained stoic throughout the sentencing hearing.
