Finally got my Tri-Angels set today, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Absolutely gorgeous! And the box ain’t half bad either ;)
I’ll post a full breakdown of the box and its features later this week. I hope everyone picks up at least one, but the whole set is perfection. These won’t be reordered, so don’t miss your chance to get a professionally made one!
If you haven't seen already, The Mystery Shack is making a limited batch of the Tri-Angels figures from The Book of Bill, and I'm quite pleased to say I had the immense delight to make the design for the boxes!
You can't present a girl that grew up with them a Precious Moments assignment and not expect her to get a little extra with it! It was a lot of fun figuring out the pattern for the box, the marking stickers, and the codes. Oh yes, there are codes! I'll make another post once the figures get here and start shipping out with full details, but if these things were also a part of your childhood, I hope you're also able to appreciate these.
This will likely be the only batch The Shack makes of the figures, so if you want to be able to get some that have been professionally made, now's the chance to do it! I'm very excited to finally see these in person, and hope you can snag a set while they last! We appreciate all the support we can get!
As promised, here's the complete look at the box design I did for the Tri-Angels Collection from The Mystery Shack!
I was kid in the 90s, and Precious Moments were so very popular in my corner of the world. I had some of the figurines, I had a tiny tea set, I had a sheet and comforter set, and I was like 5? 6? Either way, it's a part of my childhood, so I had to gently bully TheMysteryofGF into letting me make the box design for these.
Original Precious Moments box for comparison (from eBay listing):
I knew I had to pay homage to this, so I doodled up a couple of angel Bills on a cloud. I wanted one of them to be up to something nefarious, so I ended up with the guy in the back ready to drop a bowling ball. Obviously, the background couldn't be yellow, so it took a lot of random combinations until I found one that looked good. The blue for the sky wasn't intentional, but the yellow/blue combo looked the best. I also thought it would be very clever to sneak a code on the flaps using the color blocks as if they were those CMYK strips you see on cardboard packaging sometimes.
The ID stickers really helped to complete the look and gave me a great opportunity to stick in some additional codes! I'll put the code solutions under a cut because they might be difficult/annoying to figure out.
I'd tried shorter phrases to go in place of the item number and barcode individually, but, in the end, I had to mash it all into one A1Z26 code. They start with the number above the Contents and then go left to right with all the numbers under the barcode and the remaining ones in the corner; zeros on the end to make up for shorter codes.
I had a blast designing this (even if it was stupidly stressful because I was also putting finishing touches on @hunkydrifterscatalogue at the same time), and I'm really pleased with the result! I love seeing the box in person, and I’m going to have to figure out a way to make one of them part of my display shelf.
I hope everyone is able to snag one or all of the Tri-Angels before they sell out. They really turned out so beautifully!
